The more I look at it, with Jacobs getting $3mill and Golovkin getting atleast $4mill, they might have a tough time paying Gonzalez/Caudras. Both guys are saying they want more for the rematch ($400k and $250k) and that's reasonable expectation given the quality of their first fight and how tough it was on both guys.

They might just have Gonzalez/Caudras on regular HBO with the replay of the Jacobs execution. They could probably use the money then to get Usyk a better opponent (Usyk only had a $75k purse for the Hopkins card) and maybe a MW fight for Golovkin's next opponent in Kazakhstan. Lee vs Stevens would be fun.

Not only is he a 4 weight world champion, but he has faced the best opposition along the way. More importantly, who would you rather watch? So I think the point about more people knowing other fighters is not always right when all that it means is that more people will know whether a fighter is worth watching or not. In the case of Danny Garcia, I will not watch him fight nobodies but I will watch Roman Gonzalez fight almost anybody because of his style of fighting and skill. If we look at the numbers, Garcia vs Salka did around 800k viewers, the same US numbers as Gonzalez vs Cuadras, yet Garcia received $700k for that. As for his p4p claims, he is considered #1 by the ring and is in the top 3 of many other lists including my opinion, though I'm not sure how much this affects his ability to draw viewers. Given all this, I think that he is entitled to ask for more money.
About him being ranked number 1 in the ring, who owns the ring and who is his promoter?..Also,you have to view this as a business, how much is garcia bringing against keith?I dont know if I make any sense,in the long run,at least now, garcias will bring more money overall than chocolatito,I understand your point of view, but you said you would rather watch him than garcia and that is fine, but if in the same night you have garcia vs thurman and chocolatito vs cuadras, who in your honest opinion think would sell the most or get more viewers..Once again,I think him being the so-called P4P got to him,but at least in numbers he isnt.

He's right. He's paid his dues and he gets good ratings and sold 6,000 tickets his last fight. You got Lomachenko getting one million to fight in a bar and low ratings. He's damn right he deserves a better payday. Can't believe HBO is trying to lowball him.

Personally, I would still rather watch Roman Gonzalez but I understand that I would probably be in the minority there. I think it's important that a fighter gets paid depending upon how well they can draw, so obviously Garcia would earn significantly more for the fight with Thurman. In that sense it isn't fair to compare Garcia-Thurman to Gonzalez-Cuadras and I wouldn't expect Gonzalez to get paid what Garcia would get paid for a fight with Thurman. As I said though, if Garcia can get $700k vs Salka, Gonzalez should be able to get at least $500k vs Cuadras.

If his name had all constanants and one vowel he'd be getting paid $1 mil a fight from HBO

HBO? This is a K2/Haymon PPV event shouldn't it be them offering the purses?

I'm here to see GGG vs Jacobs. I could care less about the midget

Remove him from the card and replace him with Lubin vs Hurd. Or Lubin vs someone or Hurd vs someone. Problem solved

Chocolatito is right why shouldn't he be paid great money to fight top fighters.I mean Crawford is getting paid millions to fight bums.

That is what HBO And the judges get.....once Chocolate got the $#!+ beat out of him by Cuadras it wont be that easy to lure him back in to a rematch.....reminds me of what we are witnessing with son of bad judges.....well the difference is that son of bad judges didn't get the $#!+ beat out of him....son of bad judges just got his bell rung to the point where he felt on bambi legs ....but same scenario where a rematch is gonna be difficult
