I agree. He has a version of that WBC belt that will make him a mandatory to Stevenson. Keep fighting and parlay that shot into a million dollar payday. Jennings kept his job until he was able to make a couple million.

Agreed. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

There will be construction jobs waiting for him when he retires from boxing.

Right now he needs to get in the gym and start lining up fights! If he lands a lucky punch against Adonis Stevenson he's looking at a seven figure paycheck against Ward or Kovalev.

Stevenson will be 40 in Sept...it's just a matter of time before the 27 year old is too much for him...if he isn't already right now. He has a very bright future and big money fights to be had before he turns 30. He should take his time...he's the youngest of the top LH's.

maybe for a fight or 2 unless he keeps winning but he will be back at it again at some point unless he strikes it with a 7 digit payday somehow...

140k isnt that much after you start paying people off. sparring partners alone eats a lot of that up. i hear construction jobs also have great health benefits. boxing offers nothing.

Meanwhile guys like Broner throw money down the toilet and go deal with court issues ever couple months and will probably be worth less than a construction worker by the time they hit 45.
Yep exactly. Respect to Joe Smith whatever he wants to do. This boxing thing isn't gonna last forever & a lot of times beating a notable guy or two can get people avoiding you as much as calling you up so you never know what the future holds so quitting his job might not even be the best idea yet.

Bringing up Broner makes me think of the current UFC HW champion, Stipe Miocic, who's also from Ohio who still works as a firefighter despite earning $870,000 in disclosed income from the UFC in 2016. Holding down a real job + fighting & getting big wins like both Stipe & Joe are currently doing is respectable as f#ck in my eyes & I wish them well on keeping that up as long as possible.
