I sometimes wonder how much one can make that up negotiating, and if its really good for a guy pushing twilight years, who still has his moxy, not to come back with a liiiiitle more requested and get it done. If GGG is really that good then yes, by all means, take the fight KO Canelo and move on to the next. Canelo is a decent boxer but is there to be hit by a real puncher.

The thing with Chavez is that its all how one looks at this fight: How much is the Chavez name worth? If one were to sell all the Mcdonalds restaurants tomorrow, and the Mcdonald's name separately the name would sell for a whole lot more. How much of a draw is Chavez?

There is no question that junior has been characterized as a bit of a bum. I think he is talented, but very stationary. The actual fight will have action if nothing else. As much as it pains me, junior will probably get his 8-10 mil. they think Canelo can KO him and that it will look good hilite reel like! But...unlike the much better Cotto, Junior can turn it around with a punch. Canelo may learn that his boxing skills are not as good as he thought they were.

I can tell you that the negotiations are being tainted because two people think Canelo will win: Junior and Canelo. Junior wants to cash out with fruit loop money, Canelo knows junior is not serious. Doesn't mean a suprise cant happen but bet vegas on this one! and it tells why both guys are doing what they are doing.
Good post, agree with everything. I just think at GGG's age, he would want these big fights sooner rather than later. Who knows what happens in September? Broken hand, foot, anything can happen to postpone a fight and then GGG waits longer and gets that much older, and Jacobs isn't a walk in the park either. Hopefully it happens in September so we can finally see who the better fighter is.

My thing is, if the fight was there before September, GGG should have taken it asap, especially if he thinks he can beat him. Huge payday and he would probably make over 5+ mil for every other fight in the future if he wins. I guess regular people like us would jump at those 10 million dollar pay days but like you said, why not try to add a few extra million before that big pay day.

As for Jr, i don't know too much about him, i'm more of a WW fan honestly but he has a good record with some pretty nice wins, not sure how he handles Canelo but like you said, anything can happen. It would be nice to see Canelo struggle against Chavez Jr though

    • You would think that people would realize that there's a reason why Canelo is offering flat fees to people and keeps getting rejected.

So let them negotiate, stfu in the meantime, Golovkin isnt causing any delay.
First the offer was a lie, now let them negotiate... ggg has been offered 15 mill for a fight at his desired weight, if the fight doesnt happen in september he can only blame him self... remember 2017 is cottos last year in boxing and he wants to rematch canelo too, if ggg doesnt secure the fight in time cotto might as well steal it, and also depending on ppv numbers from canelo-chavez and ggg-jacobs the offer could be lower after may....

Bro it's not even about that. Why does canelos team keep offering flat fees? Why it not be a percentage like a very fair one 60-40 Canelo side?? Why do they keep announcing to the world what they are offering? And it's not just ggg who will get paid. There are other ppl obviously involved in this big mega match up.. Other ppl need to get paid too. And I'm sure they are thinking, why would we be involved in this big match up that's gonna generate big money and we not get paid what we should be getting paid?? Chavez is a guy u offer a flat fee to. Ggg is champion. 8 year ko streak. Three belts. Big draw in Asia Europe and America. His fight wit kell Brook was the most watched fight on HBO this year in all continents. This is a tactical move by Oscar but it's not gonna work. Canelo needs ggg for legacy purposes. Nobody cares if he beats Chavez or Andrade or Charlo. They are still gonna ask.. And ggg? Ggg doesn't need him anymore. He ducked the first time and we all saw it and all will remember. Ggg will move on, make money, and eventually move up and keep moving till he reach Ward and Ward will duck also. Ggg is gonna ruin Canelo and wards legacy. Ggg is the most popular fighter today nobody can argue this he is the face of boxing idc what his first ppv numbers did. That doesn't matter. Anywhere there is a boxing atmosphere ggg name is brought up either in a positive way or negative way. He's the new Floyd in terms of ppl wanting to see him lose but the difference is when he wins he wins in a very respectable and fan friendly way. They need to stop wit the flat fees or face being not being respected ever again.

They even signed to fight Pirog, the worst risk-reward ratio fight in boxing at the time. All these other guys, when it came to fighting GGG when he had no name, said "the money isn't worth the risk right now." But GGG signed to fight Pirog, who some say was just as risky as GGG, for even less money.

So you are making stuff up. Yes, fighters with promotional issues, or who fear losing, will lowball difficult opponents, and duck. Canelo has done that. But fighters like GGG who are truly the best and don't worry about losing? They are willing to make reasonable offers to get these guys in the ring. More than reasonable. And he has made those offers. People just duck him. Go read Quillin's twitter rant about "why should I face the most dangerous guy GGG when Floyd is making 50 million" fighting nobodies?

That is the type of attitude that is going on with these duckers and if you didn't know that, you need to go look into it and stop blaming GGG for it out of ignorance. He is not like those guys. He has demonstrated time and time again a willingness to make deals to fight any of these guys. Even offering to fight for free to get that exposure. Who else has offered to fight for free in a world title fight? Just GGG in recent memory. So again, research this stuff before you say GGG lowballs people. He definitely doesn't. There are some fans who thought Jacobs deserved 40% just because... magic! They don't realize how boxing works. BHop just got 800k to Joe Smith Jr's 140k. That's like an 80/20 split to fight someone in BHop who only sold 6k tickets last night. But BHop got 80%... meanwhile GGG is selling out 20,000 ticket venues, Jacobs can't even sell out half his hometown venue Barclays, but Jacobs deserves 40% when Smith Jr., who does sell out his local venues, gets 20%?

Like I said, people need to really learn how these things work before just saying stuff. GGG's team are very fair negotiators. They negotiated Klitschko-Fury and now Klitschko-Joshua with no problems too. If someone actually wants to fight GGG or Klitschko, they will get a fair deal. It's just no one wanted to fight GGG until now. What, you think suddenly more guys are calling out GGG because all of a sudden, GGG started to negotiate fairly only just now? Nah man you know better. Their offers haven't changed, it's just that GGG is turning 35 now. That's what's really changed. So it all comes down to whether these guys think they can survive a fight with GGG. They were too scared before, but now that he's 35, they think they have a shot. That's all it is. Nothing to do with lowballing or anything like that. The offers were always more than fair. They just didn't want anything to do with GGG until now.

Like Froch said, GGG hits like a mule. "Swerve him like the plague."
100% facts right here! This is the best post on this topic. And of course it gets ignored because u make the most sense lol this kills all argument but of course trolls need something to argue about so it goes unnoticed. Glad to see there's still ppl wit a brain out there

You don't seem to realize you don't make sense and you don't deserve any more correct answer since I've already given two of those and you keep bs me.
