Who does Jacobs fight if not GGG? This was the only rout they could go to grow his name. Jacobs is in the high risk low reward category so he can't fight Canelo.

That's definitely lower than my expectation of what it would take for Jacobs to fight GGG. Think my number was $5M give or take a mill iirc. Looks like you don't gotta break the bank to get Haymon guys to fight good opponents despite that being the often promoted opinions of the dummies. Although even I was a dummy about this one cuz I didn't think $3M (assuming that is the correct figure) would get this fight signed.
The whole fight is probably only worth about 5-6m + gate. If Jacobs did indeed get a 3m guarantee, he should be jumping up and down like a school girl. Sadly, it the reason this is now a PPV, which it shouldn't be. Jacobs, while a good fighter, is not a draw. My assumption would be Jacobs doesn't get a PPV upside if he got that kind of guarantee. Optimistically, this fight does 200k buys at $60 a pop. That leaves 6m for both sides to split. And I do think it is strange these guys are looking for credit for taking the fight. First off, its a mandatory. You don't take it and they strip your belt. Secondly, a career high payday. And most importantly, you have a chance to win 3 major belts off the guy that is widely considered one of the best in the sport. Fighters should be chomping at the bit to take a fight like that.

Where does the $5 million come from? It's not like Jacobs is well know.

          Possibly a career ending fight....

Who is Jacobs without a belt?

That was simply my expectation of what Jacobs would want based on the risk & reward or upside & downside with fighting GGG vs others he's fought & been paid for fighting. And I don't even recall if it was $5M, I just know it was more than $3M that I suspected it'd take for Jacobs to sign for this fight.

I think there are a lot of purses that aren't necessarily based on a guys value in bringing asses to seats or getting cats to push buy on a PPV channel so much as "buying" their name on a resume or record or some combo of that by the A side promoter. And I suspected this would be one.

I believe Jacobs wanted $3 million but I believe he's going to get around $2.3 million. His highest to date was $1.5 vs Quillin so I think he got a fair deal in today's boxing market. I hope this fights does well on PPV (Hopefully 350,000 buys). Details should be out soon but at least the fight is on! Can't wait!

I'm glad he did. It's ridiculous that it took this long to put together, but the fight's happening and that matters most.

Finally! As far as I can see Jacobs is the second best proven MW as Canelo's stint doesn't count. I don't discount Jacobs but I don't think he hits as hard as Lemieux but on the other hands his punches land a good bit faster than Lemieux' or Steven's do. Also GGG is past his absolute prime at a month short of 35 when this fight happens.

With 3 months to promote this fight I can see it doing better ppv nos. than his last fight - anything over 200k would be good and 250K would be great. No ppv in Ecuador so it'll be a stream again. Used to it by now.

Sure then we will just see him fight once a year when these guys decide to sign. At least the bums sign the contract and fight
