There's no way this fight was going to happen if it went to purse bid, so really don't feel Jacobs did anything here except collect a nice paycheck. They knew that GGG needed the name if he hopes to gain more exposure. Even better if it gives Danny a shot at the belts in his home town. Win. Win.

Team Katch22 hasn't had many options though, just happy us fans get this fight in hopes of establishing a true undisputed MW champ with a solid resume that will now command even more drawing power. Let's see if Canelo sticks to his word & fights winner in Sept '17.

It's Golovkin's first live opponent, woo! And if the fight is in March then 3G will be fighting no more than 3 times in 2017, maybe even just twice.

I am rooting for Jacobs just like I was rooting for Ward.

Actually, more than for Ward because HBO Boxing has really been on Golovkin hard. He loses and the hype that has been put behind him is destroyed.

I hope that he wins, so we can see where this will go.

Sure it would be a very good win for Jacobs, but I think that Golovkin has better upside..... if only he would take more challenging fights.

This could be the move that turns the corner for Golovkin, and I am 100% aware that he is steering the golov-ship, not Loeffler/Sanchez, or anyone else.

I want to see if Gennady has finally decided to remove his training wheels..... but if - after Jacobs - they return to fighting no-hopers and furnishing us with b,b,b,b,but stories..... then fk Golovkin.

I think that Jacobs could have some early success but Golovkin will break him down eventually for a mid-late TKO.

But looking at your prediction for the fight, should we bet on the winner??

LOL I kinda forgot about that bet, but don't get it twisted there is a difference between a prediction & who I'm rooting for. I can often root against my prediction or my own bets.

To get into the details, I like GGG over Jacobs, although I do give Jacobs a punchers chance. And I like Canelo over Chavez Jr, if that fight even comes off, plus I think that Jr won't even make any sub 168lb weight limit agreement unless banned substances are involved so he'll be phoning it in once the fight starts. Although I guess I'd give him a punchers chance to, but probably a lesser one than I'd give Jacobs as I believe Jr to be a much less serious boxer than Jacobs who won't be able to take advantage of openings like I suspect Jacobs could.
