Angulo went from 154lbs to 174lbs vs Lara.
Quillin went from 160lbs to +180lbs vs Zerafa.
And there's the Canelo/Angulo fight. (155lbs to 174lbs)
Canelo weighed in at 155 lbs on Friday night missing the 154lbs limit. He was then required to have a secondary weigh-in, requested by Angulo, and Canelo weighed 166lbs at 3:00 pm the day of the fight. He then re-hydrated an additional 8lbs to come into the fight at 174 against Angulo. (Showtime screwed up reporting Canelo at 172lbs & Angulo at 174lbs, it was vice versa - Kevin Iole caught it when he spoke with the commission and I posted his tweets about it on this board).
So Canelo went from 155 to 174 and that was over two and half years ago. He's older now and naturally heavier. It's totally reasonable that he's in the 180's during his fights. That's why I feel the Chavez/Alvarez fight won't be about size, they're closer than most people realize.

Rumors about what Canelo weighs on fight night are meaningless BS. Khan is the biggest crybaby in boxing and he needed an excuse for getting knocked cold by a much better boxer. Canelo has no super power to gain more weight in 30 hours than an y other boxer. The most Canelo has ever officially weighed on fight night is in the very low 170s and that's not a stripped down weight. That's his weigh ready for battle complete with trunks, gloves, foul protector and boxing shoes and that stuff weighs at least 3 or 4 pounds. It's just about impossible for Canelo to gain 22 pounds and weight 187 on fight night. If he were able to gain that much weight in 30 hours it would be very harmful to him and not helpful. He couldn't have a thin waist. He would be very blotted and look like he swallowed a watermelon whole.

I can easily buy him being 180, but 187 was just garbage talk from Khan.
He's young enough that his body can reabsorb fluids back into his cells in a shorter period of time than somebody in their late 20's or early 30's, so he's back to 100% functionality. And just as important, he's influentially powerful enough that he'd have access to the best possible methods to do so.

Also a man in his 20s body can endure a big weight cut, that dont happen into the 30s often so Canelo will have to settle into a weight within the next few years.

I find it hard to believe boxers do the same.

those are unnoficial weights, often taken by TV networks. the fighters sometimes wear clothes, even shoes, and the scales aren't exactly calibrated like a scale used by an athletic commission.
now, that said, some of these guys go from looking like ghosts to robust, pro athletes in 30 hours. they without a doubt put on more than 10 lbs. maybe they put on more than 15. there are MMA guys whoa re rumored to put on close to 30 lbs. they come from wrestling backgrounds, and they don't fight for more than 15 minutes most of the time. they also have more and bulkier muscle than boxers, and more fat, so it's easier to dry out.
when you consider that it's a freaking world class boxer putting on 15 lbs it's just insane and almost impossible to understand. these guys have no water to lose. and yet they not ony shed it, they gain it back and perform in 30 hours. probably with the use of drugs.

What difference does it make? he didn't break any rules, it's perfectly legal for him to re-hydrate to whatever weight he wants, if you think he's using illegal drugs to do it then that's a different thing, you should be calling for more strict testing then, I remember J'leon Love got popped for a diuretic when he used to fight at 160 and he moved up to 168 in his next fight, but as long as Canelo is doing it legally then he can just do it. No excuses.
