We've argued about lineages before so it comes as a shock to realise you don't understand what the lineal system is
What you refer to in terms of unifying all the titles is an Undisputed Championship. This is completely different to a lineal champion. A good example is Roy Jones, who was the Undisputed champion at 175, but was not the lineal champion
The lineal champion is supposed to be 'the man who beat the man' (the man is a loose term), in that the championship is handed over when you beat the current holder. If the championship becomes vacant, the 1 vs 2 fighters vie for the title. The RING became a very unpopular version of the lineal title when it started recognising match ups like 2 vs 5 for its version.
Whilst a good system in theory, it falls flat when the current holder of the lineal title is not the no.1 fighter in the division
no, that is absolutely incorrect..... I completely disagree
I will start from the very beginning
before the WBC came along, there was NO such thing as a lineal champ..... having a lineal "champ", is the result of having multiple sanctioning bodies
The " lineal " champ is NOT the winner of #1 vs #2.....
how would that even be possible?..... there are 4 recognized sanctioning bodies, and they ALL disagree on rankings LMAO
elevating any of the 4 recognized sanctioning bodies over another is ridiculous, because NONE of them are definitive..... so how the hell could you possibly attempt to do just that with The Ring?
The Ring, is a magazine FFS..... they do not mandate, they do not sanction, so they do not "appoint" anything EVER!!
The Ring is NOT a title, it is an award..... plain and simple.
They do not determine lineage, because they cannot determine lineage..... but they do use lineage in their rankings, which is absurd imho.
A " lineal champ " is either the guy who unified the 4 recognized titles..... or he is the guy who beat the guy who unified the 4 recognized titles..... there is no other way to become lineal champ
" lineage ", is waaaaay over-rated..... the lineal "champ" is often not the best guy in the division..... for proof of that..... there have been 5 lineal middleweight champs since Hopkins, and not one of them was the best middleweight
you are insinuating that The Ring determines who the lineal champ is, by matching THEIR #1 vs THEIR #2..... but they are not even a recognized sanctioning body
I believe that you are getting confused with the fact that The Ring USES lineage to adjust their rankings..... but they are not a recognized sanctioning body..... their rankings do not affect anyone, or anything, within boxing..... they are just a magazine.
The Ring was affectionately referred to as "The bible of Boxing"..... and is often more accurate than some of the ABC organisations..... but they do not sanction, so they cannot mandate..... which means that they are not definitive either.
The winner of #1 vs #2 - regarding any of the recognized sanctioning organisations - becomes the consensus #1, for THAT particular organisation..... the winner of titlist vs titlist becomes a unified champ..... the guy who wins ALL 4 belts, is the undisputed - or "lineal" - champ.....
..... most refer to the guy who won all 4 belts as the undisputed champ, and the guy who beats him becomes the lineal champ..... whether he got his hands on all 4 belts or not...... but the ONLY way that you can become lineal champ is by beating the man who beat the man, etc......
FK Canelo, who cares about him when we are discussing middleweight..... the winner of Golovkin/Jacobs will NOT hold all of the relevant titles, so will not be regarded as the undisputed or "lineal" champ..... they are simply fighting for different versions of the same ridiculous WBA title, so nothing could/would change..... which is why I can't believe that team Bullshht offered Saunders 1.5mil LMAO

Canelo doesnt have anything either 250K PPV vs Smith on Mexican Indpendence Day. GGG has the WBC, WBA, IBF, IBO Middleweight titles, plus is Undefeated. If GGG was so desperate he would have taken those 10 Million. Dont worry GGG will fight a true middleweight Daniel Jacobs March 18 Madison Square Garden. #1 vs #2. He hasnt beaten any top fighter because they havent step the ring with him, how is that hard to understand. GGG was high Risk Low reward thats why boxer dont want to fight him. Now that he has most of the belts and brings more money people will fight him.Comment

Lineages exist outside of the ABC organisations, their rankings and belts are irrelevant.
The RING doesn't crown a lineal champ - example: Floyd became the RING champion after beating Guerrero, (universally recognised) lineal champion after beating Manny. It's just a different version of a lineage, which isn't recognised by many people anymore
When vacant, the no.1 vs no.2 establishes the next champion. These rankings are usually through general consensus (Floyd/Manny, Garcia/Matthysse) though occasionally there is disagreement. Some argue Floyd became lineal after beating Mosley, but the question was put to bed when he beat Manny.
The two main organisations recording lineages are CBZ and TBRB. I suggest you do some researchComment

would you like some ice with that ?

Nope, it does not..... that was the very first point I made !
today however, if you unify all 4 major sanctioned belts, you become undisputed champ..... then if someone beats you, they become lineal champ..... even if 1 of the titles was vacated/stripped
I have never heard of that, I believe you completely made that up..... " lineage " is a method used to determine the GENUINE champ, should the titles be split between multiple fighters..... you become undisputed champ by unifying the 4 titles, therefore creating the "lineage", that simply did not exist before the titles were unified.
there is no different version of lineage, which isn't recognised by many people..... you made that up

that is absolute bunk, ridiculous
1) who's ranking do you use to determine the #1 and #2?
2) lineage is not theory, or achieved by consensus LMAO..... like some popularity award that gets handed around LMAO.... you have to PROVE lineage, by either creating it (unifying the 4 major sanctioning belts) or by winning it (beating the guy who unified the 4 major sanctioning belts)
You are CLEARLY confusing lineal, with consensus #1.....
FACT: consensus #1 is theory..... lineal, is practical
lineage has to be PROVEN, by being created/won..... there is no consensus with lineage..... it either exists, because it was created/won.... or it does not exist.... it is not "vacant" like you insinuated, but consensus #1 is often vacant...... that is where you are getting confused
consensus #1 =/= linealComment

at 175, the consensus #1 is either Ward or Kovalev
take your pick
but Stevenson is still the lineal champ
if you have Stevenson ranked above Ward/Kovalev, then you're nuts..... and if you refer to Canelo as a middleweight "anything", then you should be locked up with the Stevenson fans
wouldn't that be fun
