Genuine question;

In a sport where promoters are ultimately businessmen looking to maximize profits, why would you not make the biggest money fights, and also most watched fights, when they are available?

Golden Boy are sitting on the biggest draw in boxing, they have a chance to make a fight with him and Chavez which will be absolutely enormous (also an opponent Golovkin wanted) - why wouldn't you make it?

I dont have nothing against a fighter getting paid whatsoever but this does nothing for the future of GBP and Canelo, just a quick money grab. If Canelo were serious hed fight someone similar to GGG in Mexico. If hes the $ draw everyone says he is, hed do just fine. In the long run he beats GGG it does more for him than Chavez Jr does.

Canelo is coming off 2 fights back to back against UK fighters(one white, one ******), before that fought a puerto rican, before that fought a black guy, before that fought a cuban. You have to go back 6 fights to find his last mexican opponent Angulo. And he's the only mexican in Canelo's last 8 fights. So what's the problem here? This is about money not about finding a mexican opponent when Canelo doesn't have a history of only fighting mexicans. You bring up Vargas but he fought Muira Japanese, Thomlinson Ausie, lopez puerto rican before Salido.

IDK man I see it more so as him Canelo and GBP taking advantage of "the Mexican boxing community" not as an F.U. to GGG.

Golden Boy has other fighters it's more about Mexican fans being the dominant consumers of boxing right now. They support their fighters and the sport then any other demographic. I can name other Golden Boy fighters other then mexicans but is it Golden Boy's fault that you only notice or pay attention to the Mexican ones? Bhop, Linares, Lemieux, Shabransky all non mexicans who are coming off big fights against NON mexicans or have a fight this weekend against NON mexicans.

And your biggest example Canelo has literally fought every race only 1 mexican in last 8 fights. Sounds like you got a personal issue with Mexicans homie and just see what you want to see.

This wasnt necessarily about just Vargas and Canelo. Have you seen who Joseph Diaz and Ronnie Rios are fighting next? These guys need to focus on gaining skill. In no way does a fight with Chavez Jr get Canelo ready for GGG lol To sum it up these Mexican and Mexican American fighters grew up fighting other Mexicans in the Amateurs and throughout their career. This does nothing for them as far as improving. Its no surprise that this era of Mexican boxing is in existent.

Canelo fighting Chavez is not about GGG it is about one thing...money just like his fight with Khan by the way. JoJo biggest fight to date was against a puerto rican (Velez) so was Ronnie by the way. JoJo has a tune up showcase fight this weekend and next title a shot against Gary Russell (not mexican). that's the belt they are targeting him for a mandatory he is currently #3 ranked WBC for Russell's belt. Just confused on the point you trying to make.
