I think the OP may be referring to the way some folk (who clearly consider themselves hardcore) use the term dismissively to imply that arguments they disagree with are not worthy of consideration. It's a both arrogant and presumptuous in my book, not to mention a bit cheap, but there's so much BS that flies around here I can see where it comes from.
