  • Comments Thread For: Golovkin Tournament Ordered, Breidis vs. Huck, More News

Cruiserweight: Champion Tony Bellew (Great Britain) - Bellew requested approval from the Board of Governors for a fight in the heavyweight division against David Haye, and the Board supports his request. Bellew will remain cruiserweight champion until he informs the WBC whether he will continue to fight as a heavyweight or return to the cruiserweight division. In the meantime, the WBC has ordered an interim title fight between No. 1 ranked Mairis Breidis of Latvia and No. 2 ranked Marco Huck of Germany. The free negotiation period starts today and if no agreement is reached, a purse offer will be held on January 14 or 15.

Come on, his name is Mairis BRIEDIS, not Breidis.

The Golovkin tournament, I love it. The winner should get a little golden statue of GGG.

Ug, this guy is never going to build a legacy before he retires. If Canelo isn't going after it, I hope Golovkin gives Charlo a shot.

Golovkin/Charlo would be awesome, but if they can't make Golovkin/Jacobs, it's not likely they'd be able to make a Charlo fight.

Zlat/Garcia Vs Linares sounds good. But where does that leave the Crolla rematch?

Briedis Vs Huck sounds really good.

                I read this elsewhere :

The 4-fighters that will face each other in the tournament are as follows: David Lemieux, Jorge Sebastian Heiland, Ievgen Khytrov and Curtis Stevens.

Would that make GGG the new golden boy? Lol

Those are the four highest ranked, not exactly the four to participate in the tournament.

The two last two tournaments the WBC ordered went nowhere at 147 and 154 so I doubt any tournament will come off.
