I love the Ward that's inside the ring. I love the gentleman, role model and father figure that's outside the ring.
But don't forget that you can't say Andre Ward without saying Virgil Hunter, the philosopherComment

I don't think that the casuals are pissed off at Ward, tbh; the fact that, in his Vegas debut, nearly 80% of the tickets were sold to folks coming out to cheer on Andre Ward, that doesn't make much sense.
The only folks that are turning against Andre Ward are the same folks who didn't like Floyd, Roy, or 'Sweet Pea'; folks in the boxing media/part of the hardcore boxing fanbase, who envision boxing in a way that Andre Ward consistently proves to be not reality.
The casual fan, is putting their money and attention behind a guy like Saul Alvarez and rooting him on; that part of the hardcore boxing fanbase/media are the ones ****ting on him, creaming their pants over a 34-year old fighter who's never been in a legitimately serious fight as a professional.Comment

Those people didn't care if it was Ward. They aren't following him. They wanted to see the fight of the year. The PPV numbers show the fact that few casuals cared about either.I don't think that the casuals are pissed off at Ward, tbh; the fact that, in his Vegas debut, nearly 80% of the tickets were sold to folks coming out to cheer on Andre Ward, that doesn't make much sense.

Ward has consistently been bashed on by casual fans who don't get technique and think he just holds. Mayweather got a causal fanbase interested in him because he brought drama. Ward doesn't have that. Look at the people here who bash Ward, they're pretty consistently people who know little about technique and have a predictable list of favorite fighters. I call that "casual".
People who are interested in the science generally have a respect for Ward. Even if they're not fans (of which there are actually pretty few) they don't go around bashing him.Comment

I knew Andre Ward was the real deal before the super six. The fight with Kessler confirmed it, and everything he has done since has put a stamp on it. Whether you thought he won or lost - the mountain he climbed against Kovalev showed special mental resolve.
To have to fight a Kovalev who smelt blood from round 1 after he stiffened Ward with that jab, and the knockdown in the 2nd - to get himself back into the fight was a remarkable achievement, in a career full of remarkable performances and achievements. His best days are behind him now, but I hope he fights on and has 2 or 3 more big fights, because even if physically he's not quite what he once was - his skills, and mental game are still at the top.Comment

It seems like "casuals" on boxingscene love KO's. Shouldn't Jacobs and Wilder also be loved?
Jacobs is at 88% KO ratio, with Golovkin at 92%. Deontay Wilder is at 97%Comment
