LOL, Thanks alot for the feedback. I have to disagree with you on several points. I don't really think it was a robbery, it was a close fight in which either man could've gotten the decision. The judges obviously preferred Hatton's aggression, however sloppy, to Collazo's combination punching and cleaner blows. While Hatton was more consistent, Collazo was the champion. In a close fight, I believe that the champion should get the benefit of the doubt, particularly when he gave a very spirited defense and hurt the challenger on several occassions.Originally posted by Rocher54@aol.comRocher54@aol.com wrote:
And????.....Hatton showed Bravura and typical toughness, but he also got licked big time by Collazo, showed that he is overrated somewhat, Collazo showed that he is a hell of a champion, and Ricky also showed that he should stay away from Corrales, Cotto, Margarito, Floyd, Carlos Quintana, Castillo and the list goes on and on and on.....Hatton has a big 41-0 record build in England, under his mommy's skirts.....This farce of a night was all planned by HBO, and their desperate desire to find a non-hispanic matinee idol, and also to cater to the Bush - Tony Blair B.S. world of americans sucking up to the british Queen and Empire, helpers of the ****** Wars of World Conquest....For that reason they stole the fight from a legitimate american - puerto rican , choosing the colony of Massachusets, and bringing with them the british mechanism for success represented by a british big wigs judges, bought colonial irish referee et al......
I don't believe that that world politics has anything to do with it, as much as boxing politics. Money makes the sport go round, and Collazo simply isn't that marketable. While puerto rican native fighters like Trinidad and Cotto have seen great fan appeal in recent years, American-based boricua fighters haven't made the same connection with the fans that the 2 aforementioned warriors have.
Hatton, on the other hand, has a fan pleasing style and a large fan base that makes him a very marketable fighter. The fact that you can make millions with Hatton, and hundreds with Collazo, gives the powers that be incentive to judge in the Brit fighters favor.
Hatton was fighting his first fight as part of a 5 fight deal with HBO, and I knew it was a total mistake on paper. I personally didn't believe that Hatton could handle a fighter with Collazo's style. He had never before encountered a fighter with Collazo's slick southpaw skills, along with fast hand speed and combination punching. I thought it would be a total mismatch ala Calzaghe-Lacy, a huge upset that would shake up the boxing world.
The fact that Hatton could make it such a good fight in his first fight at welterweight against a guy who I thought would outclass and humiliate him speaks volumes about Hatton's effectiveness against slick boxers. Collazo's style is closer to that of Judah, a fact that makes me wonder...HMMM.......
While all of those boxers you listed have a shot at beating Hatton, Quintana has no shot in hell because he lacks the power and skill to hold Hatton off. Hatton TKO6Comment

I'm in agreement with your scoring, the 1st one. Hatton was beaten hands down.robbery
i had it 115-112 for collazo as the worst score possible
116-111 was my true score but there was one close round so i just gave it to hatton
well all i can say is i figured
good now someone else can be the one to beat hatton
if he thinks collazo hit hard hes in for a big surpriseComment

stfu, what fight was you watching? Hatton threw and landed more punches than Collazo with a knockdown. Some bias by some people on this site sometimes. Hatton won the fight by 2 rounds for me (1 because of the knockdown), it could have been a draw but Hatton did that bit more for me.Comment

Me too. Close fight ,it depends how you scored the close rounds in the fight if you scored all the close rounds to collazo then he would win by a quite a margin. I think floyd will get a hell of a lot of stick if he beat hatton in a close UD but more respect if he gets beaten but puts up a fight ala Taylor-Pavlikstfu, what fight was you watching? I rewatched and scored this fight a few nights ago.
116-112 Hatton
And I'm no ****ing fan. This is an objective score. Far more objective than that of the British pundits who were watching the fight live, or those who wanted to see Hatton lose. This fight was the product of HYPE and lowered expectations. Collazo was excellent but Hatton was outworking him period.
Even Ricky himself was harsher on himself than I could ever be.

I actually thought this fight was very close but Collazo won. No controversy but thought Collazo won by 2 rounds. I thought Hatton was aggresive but it wasn't effective & he wasn't landing but was busy. Collazo landed the harder/more effective punches & controlled Hatton with his jab when he used it. And his defense was good that night if I remember too. But I had no problem with Hatton winning since the fight was close in my eyes.I rewatched and scored this fight a few nights ago.
