I actually wish Mayweather never gave Maidana that rematch, I didn't think it was close enough to warrant one and on top of that Mayweather looked godawful in the rematch. His worst performance in my opinion and Mayweather doesn't have bad performances.

This isn't even the first time Ward has spoken about retirement, I honestly don't think he cares that much about fighting although he always comes prepared.

Just a highlight worth mentioning in light of the recent news Ward will most likely avoid the rematch with Kovalev.

Also worth considering when evaluating HOF inductees...
I always respected that he rematched castillo right away too. My friend hated floyd at the time and was talking mad **** how castillo won...he didn't have much to say after he beat him in an immediate rematch tho.

I kinda feel the same way. He seems to like winning in negotiations as much as in the ring. He's gotta do what's smart for him...but i just prefer fighters to at least seem interested in fighting all the best guys around them. He has a bit of a "i could take it or leave it" type attitude.

I honestly thought Pac had a really good chance to really dominate Floyd 9-3 or up after i saw the rematch and Chino out boxing and using the the pull counter on Floyd in spots.

Also, the way Mayweather was more vocal about fighting Pacquiao, it read like he feared slowing down any more than he has.

I was confident he'd take Pacquaio, knew he would put it all together but that rematch against Maidana was difficult for me to watch and I've always enjoyed watching Mayweather perform.

Agree, in Ward's case, I suspect that his retirement when ever that comes is gonna catch a lot of people by surprise.

"a g? for fighting a c level slugger, at best b level for a second time, while Khan and Pacquiao were waiting in the wings? Floyd was a ***** for fighting Maidana the first time after his poll failed lol"

Maidana is not a C level slugger, more like a B+ B type slugger. And at that stage in Mayweather could have easily found a guerrero Berto type to fill a nights paycheck.

You're right. It's funny how the heavy footed, straight ahead, predictable Maidana becomes better and better every year. It's interesting that the fans asked for Khan and Floyd went for Maidana even though FM said he'd fight the fan's choice.
