7-5 for Hatton. I'm shocked we seem to have so much different scoring going on. I guess I shouldn't be though...
Callazo/Hatton - Who won the fight??

I just watced the download because I couldn't see it last nite, I had heard the varying opinions last nite and tried to ignore pre judging the fight. After watching I wouldn't of been mad if it was a draw or either fighter winning by a point, but I didn't agree with the 2 judges that had Hatton by 3 points. I realized and acknowledged that 1 rd knockdown, but I was impressed by how Collazo finished that last rd. It seemed that both fighters knew it was close and Collazo clearly won the 12. I give Hatton credit tho he didn't fall after taking some good shots in the 12 and seeing as it was his 1 fight at welter and as a name in US.Comment

Hatton won. The score that Merchant was the same one I had, it seemed most appropriate. It couldve been 115-112, but 114-113 was good. I think people think Collazo won because the rounds that he won were much prettier than the rounds Hatton won. I gotta say though, not impressed by Hatton at all. Maybe it was because of Collazo's style, southpaw stance, taking the fight lightly, focusing too much on OTHER opponents, who knows. But Hatton WON THE FIGHT. The 12th round should not have been a 10-8 round. Even if it was, Hatton still wouldve won by majority decision.Comment

How could Hatton have clearly won that fight??? Flash knockdown in the 1st round. Most importantly he held more than John Ruiz does boxing (including sparring). The ref did not warn or deduct a point, (Hatton) swing swing hold, that's not boxing (horrible strategy). He tried, but at best it should have been a draw. You have to take someone's title i.e. Tszyu, and Massu fights. He did not take that fight he borrowed it. Hatton is an good fighter but he was not good last night. Points should have been deducted for all the holding, hitting on the break or rabbit punches in front of the ref. Draw at best, nuff said...Comment

Originally posted by IwatchBoxingBro, Collazos Puerto Rican, thats why he lost the fight. Even people from Britian get our wins.
No, thats why people are saying Collazo was robbed. People dont like to see a white guy beat a guy of color, becuase often white people are classified as soft compared to blacks and puertoricans. So if a white guy won, it must be some bull****.Collazo lost, get over it everyone.

The ref was very leanant on warnings and fouls. And the rabbit punches were ALL collazo. After collazo punched hatton behind the head, hatton got frustrated and did the same to collazo. And everytime Collazo clinched hatton he would shove hattons head down in a headlock. niether fighter got any warnings.
And i agree that hatton didnt do enough to necessarily take the title, but he was the clear winner of the fight. Kinda the first Hopkins taylor fight. Taylor won clearly, but didnt do enough to take away the title.
hatton was not fighting his best at all. And as much as he could have trained, he was not training for this fight. He was training for future fights. As weak a performance Hatton put on against a skilled southpaw, i still see hatton waking up, re-adjusting his style, getting used to the weight difference, and becoming a dominant welterweight by the age of 29. ill give him 4 more fights.
Hatton, IMO, is already the best 140 pounder out there. If he goes back down to fight the winner of castillo carrales 3, he will undoubtedly win. But if he stays at this weight and fights the big names right away, he'll lose quickly. He just has to get used to this different weight and power. Once he does, hes going to sky rocket up the leader charts. mark my wordsComment
