Stewart was kissing Hatton's game all night. I don't blame him. He said they were close friends.

That said, I don't see much success for Hatton at this weight. Collazo is a decent fighter, but he's far from elite, and there are a lot of good names at Welterweight.
Collazo's minimal power still bothered Hatton. People like Margarito, Mayweather, De La Hoya, Cotto, etc. have far more power and, for the most part, are more skilled.

Also, I think a more experienced ref might have taken a point or so for the holding and hitting and hitting on the break.
maybe you are underestemating collazo maby he does have skills he had a good win streak going agienst some good opponents and he took hatten all the way to a controversial desision. They are both new to being real title holders and styles make fights Collazo will come back and do well I seriously dought that he is going to not bring his best next time he proved he can fight more so than when he won the title. He will be a man to look for in the future Hatton worries me a little. He has more game than he showed but what he showed was that he cannot adapt to a fight at a high level.

Hatton got owned that fight. How the hell did he win! Man Collazo with only 12 KO's was able to hurt Hatton. Hatton got exposed and now I beleive that Cotto would KO him.

He either needs more boxing skills, or he needs to forget about 147 pounds.....

I think Collazo is a very good fighter and underestimated and overlooked by the Hatton camp!!! Everything considered Hatton need not do a Nassem Hamed....... By not coming back with a vengance after a set back,,,, and this is'nt quite a set back as the Barrera loss. But its damn close! **** did he take it in that last round!!!!!

I think Collazo is a decent fighter. You don't get to a belt if you don't have some talent, but he's far from the elite of the division. He's less talented and less powerful than the others I have named.

Hatton shows that he needs to learn how to move his head, head movement isn't illegal

well, i'm not so sure hatton deserved the win tonight, but i think ricky did OK for a first fight moving up in weight.

HOWEVER, i saw a ton of dirty **** yet again from hatton. let me explain a little:

how many times did the ref say "i got it" or something similar in regards to hatton's constant holding, etc? i didn't count every time, but guessing, he probably warned ricky over a dozen times. so, at what point do you issue a point deduction? why even say that "you got it(under control)" when you aren't issuing anything more than a warning. and non significant warnings at that.

ninth round, about a minute and a half left, clear elbow to colazzo's face. so clear, i made a mental note about round nine. and throughout the whole fight, i noticed a few of these elbows/forearms being thrown by hatton. not really surprising to me because it was something that had crossed my mind when i saw the way hatton was throwing punches in warm-up.

too many things i saw to comment on. i don't want to sound like i'm trying to pick apart the fouls only, but the only foul i really saw callazo doing was occassionally getting hatton in a headlock - which hatton did as well.

all in all, an entertaining fight. you know, hatton does remind me of a little british john ruiz on meth.

I agree... he is a decent fighter. But what I thought was the main factor was speed... Hatton has trouble with speed and southpaws... He's only lost (not as a pro) against southpaws. lets see how he does next time against a right handed fighter
