he knows golovkin is very good, and he's afraid. you wouldn't need to dedicate a generous portion of your life defaminga guy who ******, would you?

I'm as hard on Lil g as anyone on this or any other site.

But, let's not get it twisted.

Lil g is no hype job.

He has more than passed the eye test.

And no, he hasn't beaten an elite guy in his own weightclass or bigger (and BTW, a victory over Canelo may not solve that either), but he has beaten some pretty solid guys.

No, he is not ducked the way some of his fanboys would have you believed, but it IS truth that some have avoided him.

My big problem with Lil g is his seemingly unswerving ability to run away from greatness.

All we heard was "anyone from 154 to 168" when he was trying to make his name.

Yet, not once has he gone down to face the best at 154. Not once has he challenged the best at 168.

And here he is with perhaps the best 160 guy he can face (Jacobs) on table and he is playing hardball.

He has Lara screaming for a fight at whatever weight for 2 years while he fights Willie Monroe and other luminaries of pugilism.

He had Canelo on the table at 155 and he played hardball.

He had Ward (and others) on the table at 168 and he tried to play hardball.

So, what standard are we going to hold him to if we are saying he is great?

The great fighters make the great fight happen.

The eye test says he can be right there with all the others- Robinson, Greb, Armstrong, Leonard, Duran, Hearns, Hagler.

But, those guys never went too long without challenging themselves throughout their career.

You could make the argument that Lil g has yet to challenge himself once.

                      But hypejob? No.

Just a guy that refuses to take hold of how great he can be.

                      And that is even worse.
