GGG was a heavy betting favorite to beat Canelo when it looked like the fight would happen.

Gennady's resume is underwhelming obviously but he's clearly one of the 15 best fighters in the world. Easily.

He doesn't have any A grade victims (unless you count Brook, who is an A welter...but not an A middleweight), but the fallacy that all he fights is bums is a little ridiculous. Lemieux, Murray, Rubio, Geale, Stevens, Macklin, etc. are all solid B guys who are capable of beating anyone you put in front of them outside of the top shelf A guys. And 3G just straight up obliterated them.

Lemieux was 34-2 and was the IBF middleweight belt holder when Golovkin beat him. Murray was 29-1 and is a former WBA interim and WBC silver MW champion who has challenged for 4 world titles. Rubio was 59-6 and the WBC interim belt holder in 2014 and twice fought for unified MW world titles. Geale was 30-2 and is a former unified MW champion who held IBF, WBA, and and IBO titles. Stevens was 25-3 and was a former NABF middleweight champion who has challenged for the unified WBA & IBO middleweight titles. Macklin was 29-4 and has challenged 3 times for the MW world titles.

No these guys aren't P4P guys, but the notion that these dudes are bums is really pretty insane.
