    Boxing Needs More Mismatches!!!!

I'm serious, the two fights that caught the attention of casuals were mismatches

Casuals didn't care about Ward-Kovalev, they didn't care about Lomachenko-Walters. They cared about Canelo-Khan and Golovkin-Brook

I know right. Casuals love fights like Kirkland/Canelo.

It's hard to get boxing on track to being a real sport as opposed to WWE when the fans prefer bloody mismatch over a competitive chess match.

This is sad but accurate. Casual fans attach a lot of meaning to a KO win over a bum and little to a UD win over a top opponent.

I think what boxing needs is more Old G refs like Frank Cappuccino, Steve Smoger, Arthur Mercante Jr, Tony Weeks and laurance cole who dont interject themselves into the fight and give the fighter every possible chance to come back and doesnt stop unless they unconcious and even then they will try to give you another shot. THE DRAMA is what is missing inside the ring, people like to see a figthers heart and the drama that comes with a fight trying to get it back after been almost shut down and out. When a ref is over protective and calls a figth the first sign of trouble it robs teh sport of the main thing that attracts everyone to it.

MJistamch casuals liek cause they get to see a real beat down but what casual like more is fights like ward vs gatti, margarito vs cotto, Castillo vs corrales etc etc,

This is the exact model eddie hearn uses and the main reason why boxing has become big again in the UK

Casual fanbase/mismatches/WWE style press conferences etc.

UK fans and Mexicans are similar, they'll support their men and are prepared to pay extortionate fees to watch them against cans, ain't no need to put on competitive action when you've got a guy like Canelo or Chavez Jr on your books. The UK casuals will pay for anything and swallow whatever you put in their mouths.
