To be honest I think he would be even more hyped if he was American. He has all the ingredients and whether you agree or not with the decisions, a gold medalist, something they haven't had since 2004 in the men's boxing team. The hype would be insane and rightly so until proven otherwise.

I wouldn't say boxing is second nature in the UK either, lots of other sports are highly popular like football, Cricket, F1, Tennis etc.

I think if Wilder was from the UK he would get a lot more love. They do have similar resumes, but they are wildly different in reception from their respective countries. People do tend to forget that he fought Molina, handled Stiverne, signed the Povetkin fight, etc. Not super impressive, but nothing to scoff at when comparing to other HW... Anyway, I'm game for a unification. Make that happen!

AJ will have had 2 guys in 18 fights by saturday night Whyte & Molina.

Who is more overated than Wilder?? He is not a good boxer, he is there to be KO´d. Mark my words, he is going down as soon as he fights real oposition. I dont even think he would beat Whyte.

An Olympic gold medal puts him above Wilder (who got a bronze medal).
His record speaks about AJ´s power and the medale speaks about his boxing skills. I´m not excited by the HW division anyway and i think every "top" fighter in the division needs to prove something because apart from Wladimir, they all need to prove themselves. And Wladimir should retire already.
