In fairness its probably better to have ~$40M in a business with no competitors than ~$1B in a business with all sorts of competitors & is a clusterf#ck. Another part of the story worth mentioning is that Dana & the Fertitta brothers were looking to do something in boxing, but decided it was too much of a clusterf#ck to jump into thus went into the undeveloped, undervalued world of MMA.

Was talking about that in another thread with Tom Cruise the other day - http://www.boxingscene.com/forums/sh...4&postcount=15

Rather than create a new model, the injection of that W&R cash just made the existing problems worse. It's like bailing out the banks without giving them new rules to play by.

I think MMA as a sport has a lot of growth potential, but I think the UFC's dominant position is going to be eroded over time. How long that will take is another matter of course. Could be five years. Could be decades.

I'd still say you & the anti-PBC guys are jumping the gun. Granted you could be right at the end of the day (we just aren't at the end of the day yet), but I say its too early to tell.

Anytime you are trying to change the marketplace its rarely an overnight change & its never an easy change when the power structure of an industry are so ingrained as they are in boxing. I believe its clear there are huge problems with the old model.

And I believe the future of boxing lies in a united league of boxing like all the major sports have not these minor traveling circus type outfits boxing has all over the globe & PBC gets you there & the current players do not. PBC or AIBA or someone else is the future of boxing...its just a matter of time. Maybe its a decade away, maybe its 25 years away, but its coming cuz it makes the most sense for the sport of boxing.

I would say MMA is still in a world wide growth period. So its only going to get bigger around the globe & specifically in the US so I guess more competitors will be popping up & gaining power in the future. That said I don't see anyone around today who's a threat to eroding much of the UFC's power cuz as MMA reaches more people their power will be greater even if there are more players. So the #2 player is still going to be a distant 2nd & I suspect the UFC will be looking to make more strategic players with some of these lesser groups (like with Invicta & other "minor" league MMA groups now) as they will always need new guys so many of these new guys who aren't yet around will end up being feeder leagues to the UFC.

I like Conor but even a lot of MMA fans call him a "poor mans" Mayweather.

When Floyd was 28 he fought a journeyman in Gatti and made 340k buys.

and by the way no MMA fan that watches the sport says Conor is a poor man's Mayweather.

This fool is yelling about a CA boxing license when he can't even legally fight anywhere without UFC permission AND Mayweather only fights in Las Vegas. This is getting embarrassingly ******. You'll notice McGregor and his fans neglect mentioning he was denied a Nevada boxing license.

Because he wasn't going to pay the $300,000 fine for throwing bottles.

Other than Coralles and Castillo, and Castillo actually got robbed the first fight as clear as day.
Actually really true that everyone they say Conor will duck, he has not ducked. Khabib is next and unlike with Floyd, Im not expecting to get strung along.

Maybe he should call out Roy Jones, Jr. Or James Toney or any other cash poor boxer for that matter, because I'm pretty sure they could all use the extra dough.
Mayweather posted the poster of them on his twitter first. Conor is so young that Mayweather realizes this kid can't be stopped.

He's not like Rousey, where a loss can end his popularity because he is likeable.

People watch Conor to see him win, not to see him lose like it was in floyd's case all his career.
