Based on accomplishments and plus minus rating Ward is #1. Usyk is pretty good from what has been seen.

Going to throw some names out there other than the expected.

Callum Smith has decent fundamentals. Isn't "slick" but does some pretty things in there when he's on the defensive.
Caleb Plant is looking pretty sharp defensively against the level of comp he's been in there with.
Mchunu is chinny but one of the better defenders in the sport. Just, when he gets hit, GG.
Degales defense is good, though his conditioning could use some work.
Noel Gevor is very hard to touch from the outside. Good balance and head movement. Inside, not so much.
Dmitry Bivol, although it's still early, is real cagey.

Did he hurt ward after that? Hell no
You'd have to be pretty ******ed not to acknowledge Wards defensive skills

            mmmm tough one

Hopkins hasn't really been hit all that much, even when he faced Kovalev. Heck the much younger Kov did better against Ward lol Then again bhop has been out of the ring a long time so it'd be interesting to see how he does in his next fight.

I'd put in Ward and Usyk, although neither is great defensively but they are somewhat above average. Usyk's movement in particular is very good for a guy his size. Chunky is another one that comes to mind but his defence is very much in the Ward mold and he can certainly be hit, as many fighters have shown.

Oops, almost forgot Wlad. In the last decade, how many fighters have hit Wlad clean? It's a pretty simplistic defensive technique too, stretch out those long levers and jump back to create distance. It's not a great technique because it can not be applied to someone without Wlads dimensions.
