I'm actually happy this fight is on PPV. I'd rather it be there for me to ignore and not buy than burning a good chunk of HBO's yearly budget.

Do we know if this would be HBO PPV? Or an independent Roc Nation show?

Kirkland needs to improve his defense. he is a walking punching bag.

Kell Brook Vs. Miguel Cotto is PPV....
Miguel Cotto Vs. James Kirkland is a fight that doesn't even belong in the realms of a mainevent.

He can beat anybody; I had him beating Canelo by a wide-margin, but somehow he apparently didn't get the same benefit of the doubt that Ward did against Kovalev.

He outboxed Canelo beautifully, in my view, but all people wanted to talk about was how Canelo's huffing and puffing/yelling shots (along with crowd noise) were causing "so much more damage."

I don't buy it. If a fighter isn't showing any signs of damage and is outboxing the other fighter, you can't just give rounds to the other guy for "looking bigger." That's not how it should work.

To this day, I feel that a lot of how that fight was "interpreted" had to do with Canelo's promise to fight Golovkin next.

People simply wanted Canelo to win. Cotto had somehow become a "heel" in the eyes of the public.

If that fight had been judged fairly, Cotto would be one of the top pound for pound fighters right now and undoubtedly in the running as the best.

So, yeah, I'm confident he can still beat elite fighters.

Be surprised if this comes off. Canelo's been talking about having one more fight at 154lbs around the same period, think we're more likely to see a Canelo/Cotto rematch if they can agree to a reasonable purses. RN going to lose a ton of money on a Kirkland or Lamont Peterson ppv.

This would be an ok fight but not PPV worthy.
