Did you google "al haymon waddell and reed " the sept 2016 article?????....you got some good points in your commentHBO decided a while ago to not invest in boxing anymore. When I got into boxing 20 years ago, no one had Showtime for boxing and every boxing fan that could afford it, had HBO. There wasn't even a question about it. Now Showtime is the big dog, and HBO is just keeping the customers they had for decades.
Which brings up point number 2. This is incredible b.s. Haymon had a golden opportunity to turn boxing back into a mainstream sport. Instead he put on a few good fights (you can count them on one hand), a lot of look-good fights, and some cards that had no business being televised. Now he is about out of money and so all the decent fights are back on Showtime. These investors shoulda put me in charge. I would offer top fighters top dollar to face another elite fighter. I would have boxing on the same channel, the same night, at the same time every week. espn or spike would gladly be the channel. I would offer Danny Garcia $10,000 to fight Vargas and over a million to fight Thurman. If he would be happy with $10,000 and no chances then whatever, that would be his choice. He wouldn't be raking in piles of money for facing bums though.
But now that the money is gone, ole Al just calls it PBC even though it is the same boxing Showtime has been showing for a decade now.Comment

showtime has the canelo fight which sold 2.5million ppv, the 2 maidana fights that sold almost 1 million each and the manny fight.......... Hbo meanwhile had flops like manny vs rios, manny vs algieri.....
Pbc and all the free boxing that they are giving fans is making hbo **** their old diapers.....Comment

I don't read every article or comment bashing Haymon. I do try to keep up to date though. Correct me if I'm wrong but the only PBC fight in the last several months was Garcia-Vargas. The only fight PBC has scheduled that is not on Showtime is Garcia-Thurman. And that is not set in stone for network tv and may end up on Showtime as well. I watched more than a few cards that I thought were building guys up for big fights, i.e. Williams and Trout. Turns out they were just easy wins, easy paydays for the names.
Don't get me wrong, Thurman-Garcia will be a great fight, but one fight in over 6 months is not what I expected when PBC was founded. If they had been putting on fights like this five or six times a year, they could now be having big PPVs with Thurman, Garcia, Stevenson, Spence, J-Rock, the Charlo's etc. etc.
There is nothing I would love more than for PBC to announce a full slate of good fights. They supposedly did that a few months ago, but then it came out it was really on Showtime and just called PBC for whatever reason. Anyone can call it whatever they want, but if it is on Showtime or HBO then no one is trying to widen the audience.Comment
