I'm not going searching for the articles, but Ward has said more than once that a rematch is unnecessary... that somehow he has Kovalev figured out fully, and that it would be a wide points win for him if he fights Kovalev again. That and some other related things he's said are indicators he doesn't want a rematch.

So you heard all these indicators yet somehow aren't sure which interview he said it in. There has only been like two since the fight. But we know how folks like you get when you have a narrative you want to push. Ward has stated two things....he will fight the next fight just like the second half of the first fight, and that negotiations won't be the same as they were the first time. Hmmm somehow talking about a rematch is an indication you don't want a rematch?

I dont think Ward wants that rematch. I think he would loose that fight as i thought he lost two weeks ago but this time around Kova will need to throw punches non stop and average more than 50/60 punches per round if he wants to get the fight. Ward is a great boxer and he has the right mind not to freak out under pressure but Kova should be able to stop him. I think he relaxed after the KD and then suddently the fight was over for him.
Gift decision anyway, and deep down Ward knows that.

I did notice how ref Byrd stopped breaking them up quite early, maybe round 3 or 4 onwards. Until then, he was stepping in fairly swiftly. Why did Byrd change his approach? That was inconsistent refereeing.

That would suck, HBO is not going to want the rematch in ppv. I've never been cool with a champion losing his belts (especially in a controversial fashion) and being denied a rematch.

These are the type questions that will be answered in the rematch. And I'd imagine Kovalev will know he only has one last chance to answer all of them fully.

The questions are not for the rematch strategy. I'm questioning his strategy for the first fight. Didn't he know about Ward's inside game? Didn't he have a 12 rd. conditioning plan for the first fight? Was there any Plan B if "Krusher" couldn't get the KO?

ME exercised the rematch clause, I would think we'd hear some news soon on the rematch so that they could actually start marketing it this time.
