Kovalev and his team thought Ward would be like the rest of the fighters they fought. After they feel Kovalev's power then the opponent goes into survival mode for the rest of the fight. Ward did the opposite and Kovalev wasn't ready for it.

Truth right there. I wanted to support Ward as he's a local fighter but I just can't support someone that blatantly abuses the fact that refs do not call fouls these days and claim it as "in-fighting"

And yes, Kov tied up alot, but the way Ward dropped his head and speared Kov, I don't blame him. Ward uses his head illegally when inside, Kov tied up to control that.
