Comments Thread For: Vyacheslav Shabranskyy: No Worries About Style of Sullivan Barrera

Looking to continue his rise in the light heavyweight division, one of Golden Boy Promotions' most talented contenders Vyacheslav "Lionheart-Chingonskyy" Shabranskyy (17-0, 14 KOs) will defend his USNBC Light Heavyweight Championship against Cuba's former interim WBO Latino and WBA Fedelatin light Heavyweight ChampionSullivan Barrera (17-1, 12 KOs) on December 16 at the Fantasy Springs Resort and Casino. The result of the bout -- taking place on the eve of the highly anticipated "Final 1" battle between future Hall of Famer Bernard "The Executioner" Hopkins and Joe Smith Jr. -- will have a major impact on the entire light heavyweight division.

    This is a good matchup.

Light heavyweight is loaded with talent.

Too bad Beterbiev isn't taking on a live opponent.

I don't think this fight will go 12 rounds. Both guys are going to try to make a statement and catapult them into title contention.

I expect Slava to beat Barrera more impressively than Ward did, just like Gvozdyk outperformed Kovalev against Chilemba

Shame that this one is getting slept on. Good fighters and one of these guys might be challenging for a LHW title in the next couple years.

I like how he draws a parallel between the importance of family to both the Hispanic and Ukrainian cultures. That has probably helped him adapt so well to life in Los Angeles.

It's cool to see him being accepted by the Hispanic community and him giving back love in return. None of this "I'm white and you're not" elitism and separation that some people want to promote.
