well, some HW are in flat out bad shape and get that way by sitting around and eating. we will exclude the chris arreolas and andy ruiz of the world.


let's talk about fighters who are in good shape and still don't always look the most athletic / fit.


juan diaz. had on of the best engines in boxing in his early 20's. he was all used up by his mid 20's. never had a build like a guy in his 20's. always looked like a middle aged man. but he was in tremendous shape and could fight 12 rounds hard. that's just genetics. maybe he liked mom's tomales, but i doubt it. i thik he just giggled a bit.


joe frazier. maybe the best gas tank ever. this was a HW who moved his head and bobbed like a lightweight. frazier was thick around the middle. the guys usually don't move their heads well. and yet there he was . again, one of the best engines of ALLL TIME, and he still didn't have a cut up and athletic look.

Butterbean is such a weird case. You look at the guy and immediately think he's a butterball - then it hits you that the guy, underneath the layers, has a heap of muscle mass. It's almost like, all that fat is stretched out and held together firm by the muscle underneath.

I mean, he's got however many pounds on a guy like Andy Ruiz, but his moobs aren't as bad.

If he actually gave a crap about shedding the blubber, he probably could have been more than a sideshow.
