Different weights (Loma/Rigo), won't happen, lets move on.

Last I heard Pedraza was making noises about wanting to unify the decision after his next fight. Doesn't that make him a natural next target ? Pedraza wants all the belts, he's got one, Loma's got one, sound like an easy fight to make, and winner comes out with 2 belts.

Forget Loma's first outing with Salido, you won't see that happen again. Next contract I bet Salido would have to give up a lot of his purse if he doesn't make weight, and the referee will know their performance on low blows will be watched very closely. I'm not a betting man, but I will seriously be putting money on Salido going for a DQ in their next fight. Walters quit his way; take away Salido's advantages in the first fight, and he will be left as humiliated as Walters was, and that will be Salido's way of quitting. None of Vargas/Salido/Miura/Walters would back down from a firefight, they never did - but they would all look for a way-out from being humiliated.

Vargas/Miura/Salido/Martinez - are all at the same level, Loma would do to the other three now what he did to Martinez.

There is nothing at 130 for Loma, except the Salido rematch has a story-line, so that might happen as he trains his body to 135 at the right speed.

Lomachenko said it himself Walters stood still thus making it easy on him. If a guy doesn't stay still and Rigondeaux won't his offense will not be near as good. He clearly beat Russell but it is not like he really did all that much damage to him and Rigondeaux is much more defensive minded.


It will be a horrendously bad fight for all but a few to watch. I am one of the few that would actually be mildly entertained by it but a spade is a spade.

I don't care, I like chess matches.

I don't see how anyone wouldn't want to see it (well actually I can), but that would be an automatic fight of the year for me. I sincerely can't think of a match up I'd rather see than this.

There are only 2 ways a Salido rematch would play out, and the right question is ' does Loma have a mean streak ?'

If Loma tunes the previous fight out, its a replay of Martinez, Loma goes for the KO mid rounds, and likely gets it.

If Loma has a mean streak, he won't let Salido off with a KO, he'll look for a 12 round beat-down, he'll want to make Salido quit.

In either scenario, the smart bet is Salido looking for the DQ.

Indeed. To hell with Arum. Rigo vs Loma is the best fight in boxing to make right now. Once in a lifetime. Arum doesnt give a **** about the sport of boxing, the love of the sport...he just wants to throw Loma in with guys that will be easy targets.


Loma needs to press Arum for this, there is no other way, because Arum will be happy to feed Loma Salido or someone else with no chance.

He wants to be great so he might. If I'm Loma I'd want Salido to clean up that blemish then Rigondeaux

I agree with Bob. This fight doesn't sell. It'll be incredibly dull. Lomachenko doesn't even need Rigondeaux. Why would you when you have bigger opportunities to grab?

And here comes the part where the demographic, already seething with rage at a white European boxer - that doesn't fit their stereotypical narrative - getting so much hype, jump up and down with delight as they have a stick to beat the pale faced European with. Dontae and other key members of the demographic are already in the process of uploading their next videos entitled "Loma ducks Rigo y'all."

Of course, all this ignores the fact that Rigondeaux blatantly ducked the fight when it was offered to him. He priced himself out, refused to even move up two pounds beyond his current weight class (because 122 - 126 is such a huge, astronomical jump) and is now piping up and pretending like he wants to fight (a common tactic with demographic favourites) as there's no longer any realistic possibility of it happening with Lomachenko moving up in weight.

Lomachenko's next two opponents will be, Salido, and Yurokis Gamboa. Got beaten by a journeyman, and defeated an overrated Walters, now everyone wants to anoint him P4P king, lmao. Did anybody realize Walters lived off a win against Donaire, who was too small to compete, and Walters is 5'7" with a reach of 70", lmao Cotto is 5'7" with a reach of 67", he's fighting in a division where the tallest fighter are 5'5".

Lomachenko basically runs from the best fighters in his division, Frampton, Santa Cruz, Selby, Mares, Valdez, Cuellar, all of whom are superior to Walters, and all of whom Donaire and Walters wont go near. He jumps a division and fights the first over rated champion fighter he can find Walters. He wont fight Vargas, Miura, Corrales, Pedraza, Fortuna, by the way another list of fighters Walters and donaire wont go anywhere near. For sure Loma has skillz, but what we have here is an extremely carefully matched fighter, like Terrance Crawford, getting propped up on wins against the outskirt champions of the division. Top rank science. I like Lomachenko but I ain't falling for these bullschit match ups.

This would be a mismatch. The size difference is way to much for Rigo to overcome. Rigo is one of the handful of guys that actually fights in a weight class where he could make weight if we had same day weigh ins. If he squeezed down like most fighters the reality is he is a bantamweight. Loma looks really solid at 130, so in essence you have a 3 weight class seperation. How is this fight even remotely competitive? I generally don't care about a little bit of size difference, but when you have two guys that are arguably on par with each other skill wise. How often is the smaller guy going to win? Especially a 2-3 weight class difference? This is nothing but an ass whoopin in the making for Rigo.
