  • Ward is not Pfp #1, overrated fighter

To understand this to have to look at the way Ward fights and the way he wins. The guys is not decimating his foes like some of the ATG would. He beat kessler and Froch with boring pot shotting holding and headbutting type tactics.

Was sugar ray robinson beating his rivals by narrow margins like this??? Even SRL would beat the berreras and the allan greens of the world, o don't forget about Brand who Ward tried to put away and couldn't.

I'm not saying Ward isn't a great fighter. I was skeptical of ward before his fight with Kovalev and now I just don't see any way this guy can be in ATG discussions. The fashion in which he beat Froch and Kessler ws not impressive at all, just meh.

Ward doesn't have a deep offensive game, his victories are not dominate. At no point in Wards career was he dominating guys like CRAWFORD and LOMCHENkO, fact.

It's as if his fans keep making these strange narratives to defend that Ward is a great fighter. He's a good defensive fighter and can be hard to hit, has a nice jab but that's it.

Look at what Roman, Crawford, loma, ggg, kovalev and compare what they do to their opponent to what ward does.

Not sure why I am entertaining such ******ity but have you ever heard of or seen Willie Pepp? Generally regarded was one of the best 10 fighters of all time, very limited offensively, and couldn't' crack an egg, but my god was he GREAT.

Ward is not at his best anymore, plus Kovalev is a monster and the best fighter Ward has fought. If you watch Ward's performances against Kessler, Froch, Abraham, etc. He is much more offensively dynamic then he is now. That's not to say he was a dynamic fighter if you consider all fighters, but comparing him to a younger version, clearly he has slowed down in that department.

Pep is only one example, an obvious one, but there are plenty others. Not all great fighters are destructive - and there are plenty of ATG's that weren't punchers, and in a lot of cases they didn't necessarily always separate themselves from even sub-par competition the way dynamic fighters would, but that doesn't mean they aren't great. At the end of the day Ward was extremely dominant and hurtful against quite a few good fighters.

Carl Froch and Kessler were never in a hurry to step in with Ward again, and if you consider the type of character Froch is especially, that should tell you everything you need to know. Furthermore if you watch Froch-Ward, that is one of Ward's most clean performances, there is not many clinches a lot of it was done from the outside.

I am not saying Ward is an ATG either way, but you are ignoring far too many facts, and your argument has no basis whatsoever.

he's massively overrated imo. But hey he's managed to get to the top of the game by potshotting and clinching so well done to him.

great fighter, way overrated by his fans, he is nowhere near the level of floyd as they want him to be

he'll have his hands full in a rematch with kovalev (again) because those "adjustment" won't be there.
