  • Comments Thread For: Nicholas Walters: If I Had Two Fights, It Would Be Different Show

For most of last week, super featherweight contender Nicholas Walters (26-1-1, 21KOs) had stated in several interviews that his inactivity would not play a role in last Saturday's fight against Vasyl Lomachenko (7-1, 4KOs) at the Cosmopolitan Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

And he keeps on piling the excuses.
I've seen many fighters continue on despite what their corners say.
I've seen B fighters defeat A fighters because they kept pressing on.
Fighters like Salido pull it off on guts alone, even when the other opponent outclass him.

The fact is, Walters wanted none of it and quit.. And this is how people will remember his career.

Of course it would be more competitive but thats what he should have considered before taking the fight. Any right thinking person will need a tune up fight before fighting a good fighter except Floyd Mayweather because he is exceptional. TBH Walters while he is a good fighter has no power at 130lbs, sadly there aint enough midgets for him to fight at lower weights.

All he is really saying is that he is a front runner , a bully when winning and a rank cur when losing .

Got to be one of the worst cases of quitting Ive seen they should withhold 90% of his purse .

People are overreacting. He was outclassed and no harm losing to someone like Lomanchenko. People will remember Walters if he was to quit today by how he dismantled that Filipino boy not how he couldn't continue in the fight with Vasyl. Duran quit in a fight but did that take anything away from his legacy? Everyone knows boxing is a sport and there is a winner and a loser and days are not the same.

He should have fought Lomachenko when the opportunity arose instead of dragging his feet. Of course the layoff hurt him. I couldn't believe the idiots saying he was right to reject that fight.
