Great point. Even in this interview RJJ says the fight could have gone either way. Posters are so desperate to feel as if they are "right" that they forget that p4p is just an opinion just like the Ward Kovalev decision was the opinion of the three judges.

      Soo true....

Back to Ward- I think a lot of people (about 70% in many polls) felt a sense of injustice there, and that was my take.

But when I later read Ward's team were taking the approach of 'we're in the driving seat now, Kovalev needs to understand we dictate the terms now', my feeling changed from injustice to one of disgust.

If Ward wants to make a c-ton of fans (including moi), and elevate himself to legendary status, he needs to come out with something like this...

'..hey, I beat Kovalev fair and square, I'm P4P No. 1, and if you think Kovalev took that, hometown whatever, then f ya'll. You know what ? I'm going to go prove it. I'm going to go beat his ass in Moscow. Give him Russian judges, I'll kick his butt on his home ground too - and if the Russian judges screw me over, then f them too, y'all will know who the best really is. And I'm prettier than Ali too...'

I think you know the answer pretty well yourself: go to middleweight and earn mandatory position in one of ABC organizations.

Not unless the final 6 Kovalev rapidly boosts up his huggy bearing then maybe you have a point but we all know who wants to clinch and I've took notes about some of the type of clinches Ward has gone in for.
I'd say the first 2 rounds it was fairly normal clinching..3-5 ward clinched more..but from the start of 7-12 there is no way you can say the kov didn't initiate most of the clinches.

My eye test tells me Ward and Kovalev are similar in skills. The intangibles are what separate them in my opinion.

this is the most accurate P4P criteria mentioned so far

I think the best is..... if everyone were the same size who would win based on their style/skill-set.....

Ward, Kovalev, Gonzalez, Loma, and Crawford are the best fighters in the world. Of them, I think Ward, Kovalev, or Gonzalez should be #1. I won't argue too hard with people who think the other two have a case as well.

                      wow

my eye test told me that Kovalev had Ward down, hurt, and behind on the cards..... and yet could not stop him working his way back into the fight, because Ward had better skills/timing/ringIQ
