You're being overly dramatic and a prisoner ofthe moment. A lot of guys have quit in prize fights and gone on to have good careers afterward. Roberto Duran and Miguel Cotto come to mind. As for Walters. The good news is, he'll probably never fight anyone as good as Loma again. There's also a lot of guys at jr lightweight not named Vasily Lomachenko that he can beat. And fortunately for him, Loma is going on to bigger and better things. And won't be fighting at the 130lb limit much longer.

In the Duran/Lenard fight, Sugar Ray was clowning Duran and Duran got frustrated and walked away. In this fight, Lomachenko was fighting and beating Walters, and Walters quit. Duran was a serious fighter who didn't want to be clown with; Walters simply went out like a coward who didn't want to get beaten up. Lomachenko was right to say Walters is not a fighter immediately after the fight. No real warrior goes out like that. It will be a very long time before I watch a Walters fight again. Don't care to see him no time soon!!!

This is like in little league sports when the score is like 60-0 so they shorten the game so the kids don't get humiliated.

We turned the tv off knowing who the superior fighter was. It wasn't like Walters had a chance at a comeback.
Disgraceful you are trying to give this guy a pass.

It doesn't matter how hopeless it seems. You sign the contract as a prizefighter for a living, go out on your shield. It's your job. Doing otherwise is cowardly whether it makes financial sense or not.

lol @ "health", no one put a gun to your head and forced you to fight, you brought yourself down this pass.

        Zero sympathy.

I am also an amateur fighter but in this case my military service is a better example - when in combat you don't "run" when it looks hopeless or when fear grips you, you remember why you are there, you remember your training, and most importantly you remember the man next to you, the man you count on to come home and the man counting on you. It's not about what's rational it's about what's courageous at that moment.

Quitting in a fight is quitting in a fight anywhere and everywhere no matter the context, and it's pitiful in each and every way.

You don't teach that kind of mettle either, it's either in you or it isn't. He isn't cut from that cloth and never will be. It's only too bad it took him this far to discover who he was - robbing us of a terrific fight in the process.

So I just watched the HBO post fight interview and I'm only gonna mention this because Lomachenko's translator misspoke on an important detail: So when Max asks Loma how he made an undefeated fighter quit, Loma actually says 'I don't know, Walters is a strong fighter, but I think part of it is because he "stood out" for a year, not fighting.' Instead the translator said, "he stood in one place which made it easy for me" Dumbass.

ps: the top rank feed of this fight showed better angles of Loma's work. HBO's camera switching killed some of the nuances, it didn't seem as good of a performance. They neglected the footwork from a lot of their shots.

Why are people giving him a pass? "but he knew he was outclassed..." So what? He was unhurt. Fights wouldn't go past 6 rounds if everyone quit after realising they can't win. This was worse than Golota vs Tyson, but at least Golota was hurt. Pathetic.

Loma and Walters can sugarcoat it,but as Loma said,Walters was gonna do this and do that but he ended up bailing out of the fight when there was nothing really wrong.Apart from being outclassed. He might disappear like Rigo after this fight.Once your rep is lost, tis hard to get back.
This is his Scottie Pippen moment that he will never live down whatever else he does great.

Last night was another black-eye for the sport! The Ward decision last week and Walters quitting the very next week, was not a good look at all! I hope Mares vs. Cuellar and Charlo vs. Williams can redeem us!
ROUND 7 WAS THE MOST DOMINATING ONE SIDED ROUND OF THE YEAR IN A BIG FIGHT..
walters legs and body wasnt responding defensively no more..his body stumbled off into the corner...he didnt even have any sweat on him...he was dry in round 7...THAT AINT A GOOD SIGN

                he was done

I don't have anything against Walters. I was disappointed yes, but one thing I do know, is that the human mind is fragile. A person can mentally falter at any place and anytime.

He mentally unraveled in the ring, and his corner did not help him hold it together between rounds like they are supposed to go. I blame them more than I blame him. A fighter who is losing and cannot put anything together in a round will go back to the corner with a million doubts, and it is the corners job to dust those doubts off. They just added to it.

No undefeated fighter goes in to a fight like that assuming he cant win.

And 2nd, to act like somehow the jury is still out on Lomo is borderline ******ed. Walters was a solid undefeated fighter, and Lomo completely clowned him as if he were some sub-500 journeyman.

                      Just stop already.
i said speculation..but hey he did quit right before the stoppage over/under lol...
