I haven't lost respect for him but he's in a position where he has to work his way to the top again.
I'd like to know what people in this thread would do if they were in the ring against an accurate puncher, getting tired, and not sharp due to a long lay off. It's better that the fight ended when it did as opposed to getting put on his back after 3 more rounds of punishment.Comment

I think what Walters did was smart. Yes, I would have preferred that he continued, but if he at the moment that he wasn't going to win, why take unnecessary punishment? We've just read recently about another boxer dying in the ring. That boxer may of been too inexperience to know that he took too much punishment. I just feel that Walters came in with a Plan A and when that wasn't working, he may of tried Plan B and C and when those didn't work, he knew it was only going to be a matter of time. Whether he continued or not, it was going to be the same rest, a knockout loss. I think he rather take the technical knockout, then to actually get knockout.Comment

Was it a quit? Yes.
Is that the worst thing? No.
15 minutes more of sharp punches you can't see, whilst tiring and slowing down. Loma starts to sit on his punches. You can see real danger.
15 minutes!
The people shouting loudest on here would quit 2 minutes in to a 15 minute walk to the local store.Comment

I'm not all that upset that he didn't gut it out as he was being so badly outclassed, he didn't have a hope in hell of turning it around.
He saved himself a continued beating but he hurt his reputation in the process. He is going to need to get back in the ring quickly against a solid opponent and put on a good performance and build himself back a good reputation.Comment

He was investing to the body aswell which suggested a long term gameplan. No where near enough to win the fight late or anything, but still strange all aroundComment

He wasn't hurt and still had a puncher's chance...
I'd understand if he was trying to preserve his health like Ortiz with a broken jaw.
And I don't necessarily agree that a KO is coming; more clowning yes, KO not sure.
He was taking Lomachenko's punches and power well.Comment

First thing he needs to do is fire his trainer. Spanish is not his first language, so why in the hell would you hire a spanish speaking trainer. Yes, he probably knows basic spanish like "NO MAS"....LMAO
Hire Freddie Roach and work your way up from disgracing yourself and the sport.Comment
