To me Walters didn't long strong either. Like dude been sweating down one too many times and then factor in that he hadn't fought in a year. He still might not have won but he probably wouldn't have quit had he been more active.

What's crazy is I thought Walters was having some success but his inability to adjust shows that he's no top tier fighter he was a good durable rugged fighter. But not World Class fighter. He never was imo.

One could say at the point in his career Salido was a cab driver/ gatekeeper

He's not P4P #1 that's the moral of the story.
I personally am not even saying he is - skill wise maybe but taking resume into account he cannot be #1 with 7 fights.

However, what you're saying is a bit ******...how could Salido be classed as a cab driver/gatekeeper at a time he held a world title...?

I mentioned Canelo and GGG from your own original post, and it can't be denied if we are being logical here...I think even Floyd would have lost to Salido in his 2nd pro fight.

I'm sure most would agree guys like GRJ, Martinez and Walters are at or above the level of Salido, and Loma has clearly shown he has improved fight by fight in the pros. Salido would have no match for him at this point.

And saying he 'should' have beaten Salido so early is more a compliment to him, I don't see many other highly touted amateurs coming into the pros and already being 'expected' to beat veteran world champions straight off the bat.

        • No doubt Walters only showed up for that paycheck.

Dude, what fighter are you watching?

Rigo & Loma are NOTHING alike offensively

              • this was walters reasoning for turning down loma earlier this year

"Lomachenko is one of the better opponents that we're gonna fight," Walters told Ring T V on Tuesday. "We asked for a certain amount; they said no. They said only $550,000 was available for the fight and I think fighting Lomachenko for $550,000 with the tax we're gonna pay to the government and everybody, we actually go home with nothing. We took the decision; we're not gonna fight for $550,000."

'we actually go home with nothing' well he just took the L for 300K. . do you guys think he quit because his purse wasn't enough to risk taking chances on? i mean he was getting peppered and schooled but not punished.

and i think ppl need to ease up with this P4P talk, everybodys #1 changes as soon as the latest fight ends lol.. everybody saying loma is #1 had gonzalez in that spot after cuadras. . just ease up and enjoy these fights.

Clearly he didn't share your confidence, with him only challenging for a world title in his 18th fight, not his second. Fighters change, they improve, they learn.

Floyd was fighting 4 rounds in his second bout v a garbage man, not 12 rounds v a rugged veteran title holder.

I pose the same question to you? Who has Loma beat? Walters was undefeated but everyone knows he didn't have no real boxing skills. Only chance he had to win was by KO
Schooled Russell, who is better than anyone GayLoveKin has even been in the ring with. If he's #2, he should get up there to 175 and fight Ward, but he won't...know why? Because GayLoveKin is a pupupusssssyyy

For real that's what I'm getting at but I blame HBO. There #1 P4P list literally changes like every week depending on who the last fighter on their network was. It's sickening.. and people eat it right up. Last week it was Chocolitito now it's Loma neither of these guys are even in my Top 5...
