Nick Blackwell was taken to hospital this week after suffering an injury during sparring. The former British middleweight champion suffered a bleed on the brain in March, in a loss to Chris Eubank Jr. at the SSE Arena in Wembley, London, and was forced to retire from the game.

As foolish as it may have been, the guy was probably just thinking that it was just sparring, no big deal. It's been a big part of his life for probably most of his life, it's hard to just let go of the only thing you've known

What gym would allow this? Ive never been in a gym to even train without either my amateur booklet or my pro license. A reputable gym wont even allow you near a heavy bag

My thoughts exactly. You cheated death once, do you need to see the Grim Reaper for the second time. He may have brain damage as sparring after the near death experience is certifiable.
