So Ward can get 5 Mil to Kovalev's 2 Mil But....

Jacobs as a non-champion and non-draw isn't pricing himself when he declines $2,000,000 to face Golovkin.

    We're living in strange times.

Well he has no chance of victory. It's a payout fight. He gets ktfo and that money has to last him.

Talking about a smooth, powerful, precise methodical boxer in golovkin vs an awkward, clumsy, slow, weak chinned, BUM POS they saved from a life of scrubbing toilets in jacobs.

Your usual US vs Euro matchup. Jacobs via UD robbery.

Possible that any round Jacobs doesn't get beat within an inch of his life means he won the round.

Kind of like the Brook vs Golovkin fight.

I'm in support of a guy going after whatever he can get paid for. That said, when you do that it says something about your intention and your character. At this point, I don't feel that Jacobs has much confidence in himself and he's gearing this up to be a last great payday, as if he doesn't think he'll have many big fights after this. Just my perception/assumption.

I guess the guy should try to get as much as he can as all fighters do.

However, in a rematch, Kovalev and Ward should be paid the same. Say 4 mil a piece. Even if you thought Ward won, Kovalev deserves that.

The chances of Ward and Kovalev splitting the purse 50/50 is about zero to none.

That's a load. Kovalev has traveled far and wide to fight everybody. He should get paid more than any other light heavyweight at this point. Not saying you're wrong, though...

Yea, I more or less have this take myself.

A lot of times due to the ability for boxers, managers, promoters & networks to make boxing a business more than a sport a lot of time boxers sell L's basically. Not that anyone doing this is necessarily going in to lose or legit think they will lose cuz I think most everyone we talk about needs to be a lil bit delusional about their skills/talent to get where they are, but I do think they realize risk vs pay & they wanna make sure they get their value on the odds of the L they got coming & what that could end up meaning in this era of boxers needing as "clean & sexy" a record as possible due to the fickleness of fans.

And I say this as a cat who thinks Jacobs has a punchers chance vs GGG & by no means is this a gimmee fight for GGG despite me favoring him & expecting a GGG knockout.

I would like to see him get parity in terms of money as well but he got $2,000,000 to Ward's $5,000,000 as the champion and based on Ward's statements after the fight there's no way Kovalev gets an equal split.

It seems being the champion these days mean jack **** even if the challenger himself isn't that big of a draw.

You are so right about that. All this A-side, B-side crap. I think Kovalev won't even care because he is a beast, but he deserves even money for what has to be looked at as an even fight going in. Ward's face never got marked up like that and only one guy had put him down a long time ago and so many people thought Kovalev won. This is one of those fights where if a rematch doesn't happen, Ward might as well have lost anyway.
