Remember when Loma first turned pro, he said "I don't want to do it the way every other prospect does it - take two years, and twenty fights against easy opponents, and then pick off the easiest champion, etc., etc. I find that boring, and pointless. I want every fight, starting at the very beginning of my career, to be against world class opposition." (paraphrasing, but exactly what he meant).

And people talked shyte about him fighting Salido in his second fight, and getting the title shot so soon, and then getting the shot at Russell for another title in his next few fights... Yet they also talk shyte about people who pick cherries as often as they can for paychecks, coughDanny Garcia, cough...

Imagine the names on Loma's resume (win, or lose) he will have by the time he's reached his 20th fight? As opposed to most boxers after their 20th fight... Dude has a chance to be a top 25 ATG with 20-25 fights.

What I really want to see and what Walters needs is a couple 10-8's to pull an upset if the fight goes to the cards with judges, if not necessarily biased, are probably going to score lighter punches for the quicker boxer and look for dominant and effective aggressiveness from the power puncher. I like both fighters but I'm hoping Lomachenko has to take a knee at least once or twice.

I never understood why it took so long to develop fighters...

Some guys have 200-300 fights yet are still developing fundamentals in the pros and then need another 30 fights to be ready for a big fight. Makes no sense at all unless you had horrible coach in amatures. I understand getting use to smaller gloves and upping your conditioning but come on...

Fighter's should fight the best, but not until they are ready. One loss can derail a career. Loma is an exception that was ready almost right away. With most guys that isn't the case.

Yeah, remind me how Canelo didn't lie to the fans about wanting GGG before vacating the title and running into a fight with a career light-welter?

Aside from that I kind of agree.

Bob "Congratulations Manny, for your last fight you got.... a shiny new Ferrari! Here it is!"

                  *Manny jumps in car

Buboy "Hey Bob aren't these cars like 300k to buy? Shouldn't Manny have made like, 30 million from that fight?"

Bob "Shut up Buboy or i'll have you killed"

Bob "It has special red paint too Manny, makes the car go faster!"

Manny "Car! Go broom broom! Me like!"

I quite enjoy it. You can look back on his record and know everybody he fought right off the bat or most of them at least. It builds star power up with a quickness. Had he turned pro earlier in life, I'd say he needs more building but he proved himself with the Russell and Martinez fights. He's ready. Let's get to it. If he wins, this is gonna be huge.

I'd say that's very likely. Saturday will determine the direction for sure.
