For all the talk about Valdez putting some base in his voice and wanting something, the fight is likely not ever going to happen, for reasons that are more obvious than acknowledged.

Bob Arum is never going to have a single bit of say in any fight that gets booked for Showtime or PBC, and that's unlikely to ever change (and it's beyond obvious that Arum really loathes having anything dictated to him by anyone).

And, at this point, Oscar Valdez has yet to be in the position where he commands his own HBO TV date (ingoring the kumbaya nonsense, the only reason that "Haymon is working with Arum" on this coming fight is because Terrence Crawford had a TV date, and the purse for the Crawford fight is likely as good/better than what John Molina could get otherwise.

You make a good point! If this kid wants to become a star, Arum will give him a better chance of doing so. The only problem I see with having Arum/Haymon as ur promoter/manager, Arum does business different than Haymon. A lot of Haymon fighters HAVE NOT fault once in 2016. Arum has an eye for talent while Haymon has an eye on how to steal talent.
