That's like someone saying they had Ward ahead in the Kovalev fight after 6 rounds, there's only one result they were heading to, don't challenge the man's point just for arguments sake.

When one fighter is so dominant early on, as Kovalev was, just because he's not as dominant later in the fight doesn't mean that Ward has 'solved him' or is winning those rounds.
very good post.
Its like Froch Kessler 2, Kessler improved from round 6 onwards because Froch was so dominant in the first 4 rounds. But improvement does not mean you have won the rounds.

He even went so far as to say that he had actually called it for Andre, even before the fight was signed that Ward would win. However and perhaps after a few hours to reflect and re watching the tape of the fight, now he is saying that he cannot pick a winner or loser in that fight which is very understanding and reasonable because the fight was that close where neither fighter dominated or imposed their wills on each other.
I wish that I could provide you with a link of his immediate reaction comments after the fight. It's currently posted on YouTube. Perhaps, I shall attempt to embed it at a later time.
As far as JMM is concerned, he was quoted on this very website that Andre Ward had indeed defeated Kovalev. thereby in his own words and opinion making Gennady Golovkin a far better fighter than Sergey.

I'll help paraphrase it for you. He stated that quote "In his opinion, Ward controlled the entire second half of the contest. He felt Kovalev was unable to make the necessary adjustments". Moreover, "Andre Ward, with the style that he brought in the ring, practically neutralized him in the second half of the fight. So I think Gennady Golovkin is even better than Kovalev" said Marquez. Just from those comments alone; A reasonable person can deduce that he thought Ward won the fight.
Secondly, how do we know that JMM actually made those comments on twitter himself? We have no proof of it at all. For all we know, it could have easily come from one of his sons or an associate that has a close relationship with him that could be tweeting in his name. However, the interview he gave to Boxingscene is authentic because, I'm pretty sure there is a voice or tape recorder corroborating those comments.
Lastly, here's the post fight comments from Floyd Mayweather, Sr. Immediately after the fight, where he basically stated that the right man won because he always call the winners of bouts right. Please play the video all the way to the beginning.
