Ward fans need their fighter to take meaningful fights against champions, and to win titles

Golovkin fans need middleweights to be " scared " of him

funny bunch, with incredibly low standards

Saunders can get a good payday by losing the belt to either Canelo or Golovkin -whoever is willing to pay more for it. Hearn's comment needs to be edited a bit to 'Saunders hungry for a payday...', then its accurate.

Saunders could lose the payday by fighting against a live dog like Rosado, but he doesn't want to take that risk - so he used whatever excuse necessary to avoid that possibility.

From the article, it sounds like Canelo won't work out for whatever reason over the next year (lots more options for Canelo) which leaves Saunders vulnerable to having to fight a live-dog before he gets to cash out with a GGG fight - and there's his worry. So darn right he's hungry to get GGG as without it, he could end up losing the belt one way or another without getting that payday he covets.

Meantime GGG has a mandatory v Jacobs, and whether that happens or not, he has to play those negotiations out else he gets stripped, and with his goal of unifying the belts, he's not going to step away from doing what he has to do with the Jacobs camp. That leaves Saunders hanging - he can only get away with fighting C grade fighters (who pose minimal risk of taking his payday away) for so long, and with the threat of a GGG v Canelo match up late next year, he might have to wait until 2018 unless GGG squeezes him in before Canelo (which he will do as he wants that belt).

If GGG can confirm Saunders 1Q, then it all comes down to what Canelo will do on his traditional fight date of 5 May. For a lot of (valid) reasons I can see Canelo not wanting to go to the UK on a big Mexican national holiday, meantime GGG will more than willing to, so likely outcome is GGG v Saunders in the UK May or June. Only other option for Saunders would be to go over stateside and fight Canelo on Canelo's terms, which could even include some catchweight BS and a lowball offer.

So GGG v Saunders, in the UK, early summer 2017. You read it here first.....

        it will never happen !

Saunders will wait for Canelo, and collect a much better payday for a more winnable fight

        they have already discussed it

I think that Warren is totally full-of-**** and will sing a different tune after BJ gets through his next fight.

And no, that is not a duck..... because Team Bull**** offered him 1.5mil, so they were dreaming..... that is the standard risk/reward decision that fighters like GOLOVKIN himself have been making for years.

          fixed.....

that doesn't read any better for Golovkin ?
So irrelevant GGG vs Canelo is the biggest fight in boxing.

the fact remains, BOTH Saunders and Jacobs have better recent wins than Golovkin

that does not mean that Canelo/Golovkin is not highly anticipated

we were not discussing "popular", the poster who I replied to was discussing current "relevance"

BOTH Saunders/Jacobs have recently had more relevant middleweight fights than Golovkin has..... with the unknown Dominic Wade and then an unsanctioned welter

neither Ward nor Kovalev are popular, but that fight was highly anticipated AND relevant

that poster's comments were designed solely to bash Saunders, but they were not very accurate

he should have just stated that Saunders is a git

Just looking at 3 of Suanders last 5 opponents. Bloyer, Blandamura, John Ryder. Next Akavov. Lol.

Other 2 Lee and Eubank Jr.

What a warrior. He's got ONE viable scalp on his resume and somehow his record now exceeds GGG's ?

Saunders would likely have lost to a number of GGG's last 10 opponents at the time he fought them. I'd bank on Murray beating him at the time, Lemiuex, Geale, and Macklin. I suspect Stevens and Monroe would have taken him too.
