WBO middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders is hungry to get the "toughest fight possible" in 2017, according his promoter Frank Warren. This coming Saturday night, Saunders (23-0, 12 KOs) will make the first defense of his world title against Russian Artur Akavov (16-1, 7 KOs) at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff. I think both sides want it - my personal sense is that the delay was more to do with Haymon and SHO wanting to ensure they didn't have a major HBO event conflicting with their winter season kick-off date of Dec 10th, though I admit I'm speculating. And yeah, I'd have to favour Golovkin but Jacobs is as live a dog as there is at 160, good fight.
