Looked through a lot of Byrd's judging, especially the SDs and MDs she's played a role in, and she seems pretty solid to me. Can't see any howlers in there.
Meantime, lest we forget....Lisa Giampa....somehow saw Russell getting a draw vs Loma. Now THAT was a howler.
Neither of the fighters are from the US, so should be no national bias issues - but if anything, feels like hometown advantage goes to Walters given Jamaica is a lot closer to the US than the Ukraine (or should we say Jamaica is further away from Russia while the judges probably think the Ukraine is in Russia).
Then again, Lomachenko lives in the US, so should end up fair as the judges can't screw over both of them at the same time (much as I'm sure they would like to - maybe have Russell winning the fight even though he's not there).
And on the subject of judge howlers...I vowed never to forget the name PIERRE BENOIST...after he turned in that scorecard of 119-110 in the first Williams/Martinez fight. A close competitive fight, other two scores 114-114, and 115-113 for Williams. No issues with Williams getting it as it was truly close and had to go one way or the other, but to see a 119-110 scorecard stank of something ugly.
