Comments Thread For: John David Jackson Amused by Perception of Kovalev-Ward Fight

There are some who believe that Andre Ward (31-0, 15KOs) - who won a rather unpopular decision against Sergey Kovalev (30-1, 15KOs) this past weekend in Las Vegas at the T-Mobile Arena - had figured out 'the Krusher' in the second half of this contest.

Kovalev will beat him worse next go, hes a smart and underrated boxer who will make the adjustments needed in timing and working on the left hook.
It was nice the way he suckered Ward onto the knockdown punch
As a spectator Kovalev is positive and looks to land with bad intentions while Ward basically looks to gay up the place

          Hey John Jackson..

I am Dumbfounded that anyone can call themselves a boxing expert and have ward winning.

This is probably why most boxing experts had kov winning by at least 3 rounds

Boxing industry people from overseas like Eddie Hearn, Paul Smith, and Matthew Macklin thought Andre Ward won.

Just because a fight is close doesn't mean it's a robbery.

Kovalev put himself in this position. He didn't seem to be following Jackson's instructions at certain points. Kovalev can make it easy next time by simply boxing on the outside and running Ward into right hands when Ward comes in. Not sure about the HBO reach measurements, but Ward seemed at a significant reach disadvantage in there. Kovalev's jab was too crisp and powerful for him not to keep pumping it all night.
