so Kovalev landed .8 more punches per round than Ward. that's the basis for him "dominating" to some of these idiots.

I have a strong feeling that if we flip flopped fighters and Ward had the Knock Down, he would have won...
Lose lose situation for Kov in good ol Merica!
Nevertheless, that was Wards first professional loss in his career. Lets see if he can actually win in the rematch!Comment

@dougiefischer 100% this. People would lose their **** if Ward outlanded Kovalev, scored a KD, then lost by UD in Russia.

okay Kovalev got screwed by the judges big deal why worry?
Okay Kovalev got shafted by boxing judges in Vegas. Americans usually win in America. That is the American way. Go cry to ***** and the commies. Grow up.Comment

People talk about accuracy too much. If I throw and land one punch a round I'll be 100% accurate.
It's a viable strategy to be a volume puncher, the important thing is to land the most punches and do the most damage, not whether you got their by better accuracy or greater volume.
Compubox isn't perfect, but it's certainly evidence that the decision was wrong.Comment

Total punch stats don't really mean much. Fights are scored by rounds. A fighter could have a big round or two and land 20-30 punches in the round and then end up with landing half that the in rest of the rounds. He'll probably end up landing more at the end of the fight only because of those two rounds but yet get out landed and lose the majority of the other rounds.Comment

problem is 8 rounds were decided by 2 punches or less, so the guy who often has the better defense, ring generalship tends to get the nod over the guy whos lacking effective aggression and missing shots. in those cases thats what allowed ward to steal some rounds, only 4 rounds were clear cut for both fighters at 2 a piece, in the 8 rounds decided by 2 or less punches, each guy won the punch total at 4 each.People talk about accuracy too much. If I throw and land one punch a round I'll be 100% accurate.

I had it 116-111 Kovalev but I don't have a problem with people scoring it closer. As long as it's in favor of Krusher.Yeah but why say that when it's clearly not the case?
A quarter of press row had Ward winning.
Plenty of fans had Ward winning.
A large percentage of the cards that had Kovalev winning were extremely close mostly by 1 point.
What does all of this point to? A very close fight.
Listen, I have even thought of it in this way the last few days; we would likely have gotten a rematch anyway, it's a possibility, and hopefully we'll get a clear winner in the 2nd fight. Then we can put all this to rest.Comment
