This video makes it easier to see which punches are landing. I had uploaded another video from higher up in the arena in the video trading block but dam, looks like you had some sick seats.

From this angle round 12 was a CLEAR Ward round.

Edit: Did HBO add boos to their coverage when the decision was announced, there is hardly any on this footage?

I agree.

I also decided from this video that Kovalev decisively took round 1. I gave him round 1 anyway, but it was much more one-sided than I originally thought it was.

I see the same thing. 2 totally clean punches and the skull/forehead shot was partially blocked by Ward's glove but it still lands. The other 2 miss.

I would still say it's a pretty good sequence to land 3ish of 5 tho.

So in all seriousness, did these two combos look the same to you? Clearly Cotto lands all those head shots (I can't actually see the body shot, but it looks like it probably lands), but also clearly Kovalev missed two of the punches from that earlier combo.

Exactly! And I have no problem with that because they were some genuinely close, high level rounds man. Two great great fighters.

when you see a partially blocked shot that pushed the block aside and buried through the guard and think it doesn't count, that shows you haven't boxed a day in your life and that you're biased. There's quality to a block as well. You see Ward defend and you just want to assume he's not taking damage. This is why you're in the vast vast minority of opinion regarding this fight...

Hes starting to seem very bias now. He said the complete opposite when GGG blocked almost all of Kells shots.

Not one of those was blocked, nor did they miss, they all landed on his face. The only one that I didn't count was the first punch, the jab that was partially deflected off the gloves and onto his forehead.

If you want to argue that only one of them was thrown with much force, then you'll get no argument from me there.

This is what you do if someone tries to rush into you in order to get inside. Lots of people tried excusing Kovalev's holding when Ward rushed inside because supposedly there was nothing else Kovalev could do.
