Ok, Ward, sure. Kov asked for a purse bid to fight Stevenson, as Stevenson was/is champ and Kov was his mandatory. They got it and then said, wait, no we will not fight Stevenson, sorry about the confusion. Stevenson called out Ward after Ward whipped on Dawson. Ward didn't want Superman then either. Ok, who is Ward going to fight next? Beterbiev? Karpency? Mohammed? Chilemba? Who exactly can Ward fight besides Stevenson? If Ward refuses to fight Stevenson, that would be a big stain on his career and place an asterisk next to his name.

There are no other big fights out there, unless he wants to fight Wilder. Last time he moved up to #2 p4p an ko'd the lhw king and followed that up by over four years without a decent fight. I like Ward, but yea, Stevenson is the true lineal champ. If you turn down that to face an unknown that will look a lot worse for Ward and give Stevenson a rightful claim to the most avoided fighter out there.

Maybe YOU should brush up on the history of the purse bid and prior.
The WBC wanted to do a purse bid a YEAR before the fight could even take place. Of course Kovalev and his promoter pulled out. Explain to me other instances where an Alphabet Organization did something like this?

Before this, Kovalev and Stevenson were both with HBO, who jumped ship to Showtime? Who fights the big fights and who talks about fighting the big fights? Who has to remain relevant by getting in the ring and screaming "I'm the real champ" but still hasn't fought a Hopkins, a Pascal, a Kovalev, a Ward, Or anyone that can keep him relevant?

Stevenson called Bute out many times between 2011-2013. He was number one contender for Froch at 168 called him out and he also ducked. Went to showtime for the $$$ had plans to fight Hopkins and he bails to HBO. He had a purse bid for Kovalev and they didn't show. Agreed that a rematch is next for Ward and Kovalev it's an easy fight to make HBO controls everything but at some point i'd like to see Stevenson in the mix before it's too late.
