  • Comments Thread For: Ward: We Got Grimy, We Got Dirty, Slowly Took Kovalev's Heart

WBA, WBO, IBF light heavyweight champion Andre Ward (31-0, 15KOs) had to switch up his style and make big adjustments after getting knocked down in the second round of Saturday's fight with Sergey Kovalev (30-1-1, 26KOs) at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

This guy is living in his own fantasy. No one (but a few special snowflakes) saw that fight, Ward. You got the benefit of the doubt in a fight you should have lost.

I'm now inclined to believe that Ward is just in denial. When Pacquiao won a conterversial decision in the third fight he was just like. "I think I won but not close so we need rematch." or that "Close fight, I wasn't very good in that fight." But here Ward is just in denial and just let it sweep and pretend that he dominated.

The cognitive dissonance is strong with this one.

His living in his own fantasy right now. I guess the backlash from the media and the fans was pressuring him and pretends that he dominated to have a sanctuary from it.

All this downplaying of Kovalev refusing to give him any credit is making me feel Ward isn't feeling having a rematch.

That's a surprise from you man. You always said in the past that Ward is going to win wide, and that you always supported Ward, but your tone is different.

The one thing I will say, Kovalev did look dead tired at the end and admits he was very tired, which is strange considering that he didn't throw as many punches as previously done in past fights.
