IDK good stoppage. Kovalev didn't want it when the fight was stopped.

Idk that I'd go so far as to call it a good stoppage cuz I got issues with how things went down myself, but I definitely don't love the stoppage while also understanding the ref gots a job to do & Kov wanted out like you're saying.

So what does he do exactly there? Sh^t idk. I don't love it, but I can't hate it either cuz Kov was looking defeated while not going down & giving the ref the ability to give him a count. So it was bound to be a call that would piss off some fans whatever happened.

Kov was going to lose either way. He'd mentally given up from what I saw so ultimately this L is better long term for him physically.

But Ward literally put him out in that round... Ward fought beautifully... (there were low blows, of course, but he fought beautifully...)

Virgil has only trained Dre to get the KO twice in his career. Dawson and this fight. Seems he was right on the money.

Kovalev is a great 6 round fighter but unfortunately for him Ward is a distance fighter. Kovalev seems like he needs to pace himself. Sergey is actually the better fighter early in the match but he gets drained from all the wrestling that Ward brings. He would probably have a hard time with any really talented high work rate fighter that can withstand the carnage that he dishes out.

Regardless of all that, the stoppage definitely is questionable and those low blows kind of have me feeling a little uneasy about the end result. Ward did a good job but he may have stretched the rules a little bit too much tonight.
