I think Kovalev deserved the win with the knockdown factored in.

That said- somebody please teach this guy how to cut off the ring, he was driving me crazy watching him just follow Ward around all night.

He did well controlling the range earlier though, when ward started moving counter clockwise and slipping the jab to the outside, it offset kov a little bit

He would have most likely stopped ward if he cut off the ring more effectively during the duration....he couldnt get the shots he was landing early on to land later

The best i could give Ward was a draw and that's if i am looking to give him the close rounds.

Ward was terrible in the first half of the fight and decent in the second half, he was nothing special, but people seem latching on this as some kind of masterclass by him, the fact he improved, is almost a point in his favour...

The rounds he won, he barely won them, there was probably 3 rounds in the whole fight you would definitely attribute to Ward. Kov had 5. Yet Ward managed to get all the swing rounds, and all the the judge managed to reach a conclusion of 114-113 in a close fight in which the majority believed Kov won, its very strange..

For whatever reason, Kovalev seemed to have stopped fighting after the 5th round, landing one punch here and there, while Ward was working the body which goes largely ignored by those who wanted him to lose

Regardless of your opinion on this, he still beat Ward pretty convincingly.

Or maybe you don't get that his aggression was ineffective, most of punches landed came in first three rounds after that was swing at air which let Ward gain momentum and get back in fight. A fight is not scored on who threw more punches when you can have big rounds but then go on to do nothing rest of a fight it's a reason it's scored round by round
