are ward and kovalev really better than everyone else?

Im seeing this over and over again, 'them two are on another level to everyone else' are they really? Who decided that? Skill wise are they really better than crawford, lomachenko, rigondeaux, frampton? Is kovalev really better at pressing and power punching than golovkin? Best name on his record was jean pascal so his cv isnt head and shoulders above GGG's at all.
Is it just cause the promotion got called 'pound for pound' that everyone was brainwashed into thinking these two are miles ahead of everyone else? Cause it was a high level fight but i didnt look at them two guys and think 'wow their skill sets are something else', which is how i used to think when i watched mayweather, or when i watched rigo v donaire and when i watch lomachenko. Plenty of other examples.
Expecting people to go off on one and say im being a twat, but im not ****ting on ward and kovalev, im saying that theres plenty of other fighters who are just as good. I dont see either of them as head and shoulders above other fighters in other weights

Have any of those fighters fought other P4P fighters? Ward and Kovalev have proven they belong at the top.

theyve only fought each other. Kovalev hadnt beaten a p4p fighter. Not sure if kessler and froch were on p4p lists when ward beat them, if so they were scraping onto the list.

Well when you look at their resumes and how high level their fight was, they are better than just about anyone else. Maybe Gonzalez has an argument. But who else?

Agree with you for once, I do my P4P lists mostly based on skill level, I don't consider Dre or Kova more skilled than guys like Lomachenko, Rigo, Chocolatito etc. Both are top 10 without question though.

were they really that great though? Kovalev beat 49 year old hopkins and jean pascal. Wards beaten noone in 5 years. They are top fighters, not doubting that, but am i the only one scratching my head as to why people are putting them 1 and 2 pound for pound, saying they are clearly better than everyone else?
